Handles the highest velo pitchers with ease. Earns strikes with plus receiving skills and holds base runners in check with a quick release. Keeps all but the most wild pitches off the backstop. Regular travel coach is a former pro catcher and my son has been with him exclusively since he was 7.
Plus bat that hits for average with gap power. Good eye at the plate. Plus speed.
This fall we are looking for fill in opportunities (specifically in Georgia and Florida where things are more competitive). He has played for the same coach for 4 years and we want to get him out of his comfort zone and let him experience some new personalities. A great player can drop out of a plane anywhere in America and play ball...we want to give him a chance to do that and see how he responds.
Our ideal scenario is where a team needs help and we play with you on the weekend. Practices would be a problem given the distance but he will continue to practice with his regular coach here and he works on his own almost every day. My desire is to create a "showcase" feel for my son while helping a team fill a void during the fall while some players commit to other sports.
While he stands out as a catcher he is also a good infielder and a control pitcher. He has experience playing in many elite events including the Elite World Series.
He is a well-mannered kid with a shy personality but strong mental toughness. He is a team player that would rather go 0 for 4 and win than 4 for 4 and lose. He shakes things off quickly and he's always ready for the next pitch.
His mom and I are very supportive and you won't have any drama from us. We are a baseball family and this is all about the right learning experiences for our son to help prepare him for the showcase circuit in a few years. Most players his age have played with several coaches but we've been fortunate to have him in a stable environment...but now we just want to add some variety into the developmental mix.
