I am pleased to announce the 10U Oregon Park Hornets will be partnering with Southern Polytechnic State University for the upcoming 2013 - 2014 season. The SPSU Hornets finished their 2013 season at 39-18 overall and ranked 33rd nationally. We will have use of their indoor facility and their coaches and players will provide instruction to our players throughout the season. Additionally, the OP Hornets will be coached by an experienced coaching staff with half of the staff having played pitcher or catcher in college.
We will play a AAA schedule and are looking for great families with coachable players who can help us build into a Major program in a short time. This year, the team will travel to the Ripken Experience in addition to playing in a local World Series.
Tryouts are free and will be held on field 2 at Oregon Park (145 Old Hamilton Rd, 30064) on July 27th from 10 - 2. The tryouts will be facilitated by a former OP player currently playing at Southern Wesleyan University. Anyone interested should preregister for the tryout. The registration form can be found at www.ophornets.com .
Please feel free to contact Rusty Smith at rsmith@oregonpark.com for more information.
Many thanks to the talented players who came out yesterday. We will be making our decisions on those players shortly. As a reminder, if you can't make the official tryout on 7/27, please contact Rusty Smith at rsmith@oregonpark.com to schedule a tryout at another time.
As an update, we will not be able to schedule private workouts from July 18 - July 27th. If you can't make our scheduled tryout and would like the opportunity to do so, please contact Rusty Smith at rsmith@oregonpark.com . We plan to finalize our roster decisions as soon as the tryouts are complete on 7/27 unless we need to hold additional tryouts so please let me know if you can't make it.
Just a reminder that our tryouts will be held this upcoming Saturday (7/27) at Oregon Park on Field 2. Please register at www.ophornets.com prior to showing up.
Thanks and I look forward to seeing you at the park.
