South Forsyth Giants 8U KP - Travis Bailey

Formerly organized as the 8U Georgia Dominion, this team has been asked to play under the South Forsyth Giants program in 2013. This is a established and successful program that offers our team the ability to develop in the best environment possible. Our team will be able to practice and play at South Forsyth's new private fields located behind Creekside Church (Near the Avenues Forsyth). We look forward to developing a strong to team to compliment this great program.

Our core group of boys has been established, but we are looking for a few quality players to add to the team!

Who are we?

We are a independent competitive travel baseball team located in Forsyth County. We are looking for 10 exceptional boys looking to earn the opportunity to play baseball at the highest level of competition. The South Forsyth program emphasizes player development, team-first attitudes, character, and perseverance. Along with these, we will develop determined players who are mentally tough, respectful young men who keep each other accountable...and have fun along the way. Our long-term development goal is to prepare these boys for high school athletics.

What are we looking for?

The Giants will select well-rounded, skilled, coachable ball players with great attitudes who are ready to take their skills and knowledge of the game to the next level.

How will our season unfold?

We will begin practice on September 1 and play in a few select fall tournaments. Through individual and group training sessions (both indoor and outdoor), as well as an at-home strength and agility program, the team will be prepared to take on our full schedule of 8-9 tournaments beginning in February. We will be practicing twice a week at the South Forsyth fields or the Rising Stars facility located north of Cumming.

Who leads the organization?

A former player with the St. Louis Cardinals organization, as well as a collegiate and high school coach, Travis Bailey owns Rising Stars Baseball Academy (http://www.risingstarsbaseball.com and http://www.facebook.com/TravisBaileysRisingStars), where he has developed innovative methods in teaching, mentoring, and empowering several hundred students of the game. The Commissioner of Baseball for Central Park, he teaches coaches how to be effective leaders and positive influences. He implemented the coaches' certification program and assisted in pioneering the county's premier league.

Travis built the Lake Lanier Copperheads from a pool of 22 kids at the 6u all-star level and developed them into a force in Georgia baseball. At 6u, the team won third in the State USSSA Championship. At 7u, the all-star team became the Dizzy Dean Georgia State Champs. At 8u Premier, the Copperheads became a travel team and won the county Premier Championship and placed third in the USSSA State Championship. The team played 9u Major including Nations, Triple Crown, and USSSA (where they again won the state championship). Last year, the Copperheads placed 5th in the Triple Crown Super NIT.

Now Travis is ready bring his experience and talent to a new group of boys.... the 8U South Forsyth Giants!
