Here's the schedule and I'm sure the Sooner90 and Cumming Baseball will agree that there is a conspiracy in the 10U travel baseball world where the Signature Park Titans and East Cobb Braves "MUST PLAY" in the pool round. It doesn't matter if it's TC or U-Trip, GA or AL, these two teams must play. As always, it should be fun!!!

GAME DAY TIME FIELD TEAM SCORE VS SCORE TEAM
1 FRIDAY 10:00 AM MIDWAY PARK #5 East Cobb Team Reebok A1 A2 Lake Lanier Copperheads
2 FRIDAY 10:00 AM MIDWAY PARK #6 Georgia Team Raiders B1 B2 West Forsyth Diamond Dawgs
3 FRIDAY 12:00 PM MIDWAY PARK #5 East Cobb Team Reebok A1 A3 Signature Park Titans
4 FRIDAY 12:00 PM MIDWAY PARK #6 Georgia Team Raiders B1 B3 Buckhead Braves
5 FRIDAY 12:00 PM MIDWAY PARK #7 South Forsyth Giants C1 D1 6-4-3 DP Cougars
6 FRIDAY 2:00 PM MIDWAY PARK #5 Lake Lanier Copperheads A2 A4 East Cobb Braves
7 FRIDAY 2:00 PM MIDWAY PARK #6 West Forsyth Diamond Dawgs B2 B4 East Cobb Astros
8 FRIDAY 2:00 PM MIDWAY PARK #7 Elite Gamers RWB C2 D2 East Cobb Yankees
9 FRIDAY 4:00 PM MIDWAY PARK #5 Signature Park Titans A3 A4 East Cobb Braves

That is crazy that those 2 teams are playing again in pool play. Going back and looking @ those 2 teams schedules, they have played in pool 4 separate times (this tourney makes 5X), including 2 TCrown tourneys, now 3.

Looks like a great tourney and the double elimination format will make for a long weekend of baseball for the winner. Who has enough pitching, is the immediate concern.

Final four for the weekend will include...

1) Sig Park - going to ride this team like Seabiscuit until they bring home a trophy/medal. Cmon HS...make me look good man!
2) Da Braves - if Vegas had odds on 10 yr olds, I could have paid off my mortgage with this team. Most consistent team of the year.
3) Stros - heard through the rampant grapevine that they picked up another kid for this weekend.
4) Gamers - with it being Memorial Day week...got to go with the Red, White and Blue.

I have watched every team this year except the Buckhead Braves and the East Cobb Yankees and any one of these teams can go on a run. Will be interesting to see what kind of pitching is left at the end of this one. Renegades? Surprised to see them not entered in this one. Must be saving up for next weekend.

Hobnail-Agreed about Signature Park and Holtz, w/that big roster( read arms)and double elimination (if the rain holds off) they are "one" of the favorites. Stros are always there and Braves have been ridiculously consistent.

Renegades are playing in the Oregon Park Red Sox Rumble this weekend. See the Tournament link for all the info on that tourney. I know I'll get roasted for this, but a puzzling tourney choice for the Renegades.

In regards to pickups, you will see A LOT of different players on different teams this weekend.

Hobby,

I promise you that we've been trying hard, my friend. I predict that a team from the great state of Georgia will win it.

BB...not sure why you would get roasted for the comment. It is a puzzling choice to play in a AA/AAA tourney when the State Trnmt is going on. With a few of their kids playing for other teams at Midway this weekend, looks like a lot of driving will be taking place and don't get me started about overlapping game times. Can't even imagine trying to juggle it all.

Renegades were suppose to be off this wkd, OP tourney director needed a 24th team and reached out to the them. Don't think those players, playing at Midway are doing both, but I could be wrong. There's a lot of rumors swirling around the Gades...

holtz-I would call 13 a lot, nothing wrong with that many though, a lot of teams would want that. Sensitive?

Going to be real hard on those Renegades kids, to play a 830/430 on Sat in North Marietta (Oregon Park) and make it to Midway to help out. Tough notice if they were supposed to be off this weekend but IMO first obligation is to the team you played w/ all year.

Barker,

I am definitely not the sensitive type. Not that I owe you an expalanation or anything but we had one kid quit and one who not available this weekend. So, we don't have 13. What's your day job by the way, roster police? Lol!

HNB,

you got them all right but "Da Braves" and WFDD.

Nice run by the home town Dawgs and SPT.

Good run by the Gamers RWB.

GREAT run by the Astros; Congrats on your TC State Championship repeat.

What a defensive clinic by the Stros!

Steel Will,

Thanks...the people who help me crunch the numbers have been put on notice as we didn't see the Braves loss to the Raiders coming at all man. LOL. It was like a runaway train and when the Raiders let loose, they let loose in a big way. Big shout out to the Soooooooouth Siiiiiiide for that one.

WFDD got on a streak and played very well also. The shock to the system over the weekend was how the SF Giants rolled in pool play and then lost 2 straight on Sat. afternoon. Buckhead Braves had too many answers for them and they hit the ball. Buckhead played well yesterday morning and had the tying run at the plate, but the Copperheads turned a game ending 6-4-3 dp to end the Braves run who is going to be a good team to watch out for.

Watched almost everygame that I could over the weekend and the Stros deserve a large shout out. Stayed in control after the SP loss and went on a mission the rest of the way. Reminded me of the Atlanta Super NIT run. Gamers were ready for SP yesterday (HS...ya'll have been fun to watch this year...great coaches and great kids) morning and it was fun to watch the Dawgs and Raiders go at it as well.

Great weekend of baseball and after I am through crunching a few more numbers, I will be back later in the week for predictions on the games coming up this weekend. HNB

Will/Hobby,

Thanks...it was definitely a fun tournament. I know that there has been a lot of talk all year about who the best team in the state is and frankly (IMHO) the East Cobb Astros are the best team that we've faced...with about four others finishing a close second. I'm just talking about the teams that we've faced. I don't have an opinion about teams that we have not played. That's not a knock on anyone else but the Astros do eveything well. They have high baseball IQ's, team speed, great baseruners, great at "small ball", pitchers not throwers, persistant at holding runners, great catcher, great defense and most of all they don't strike out. We threw a couple of out strike out pitchers against them and those kids just fight of the tough ones until they got something they could handle. They put the ball in play and put continuous pressure on our defense and Saturday we made every defensive play and yesterday we had one bad inning that costed us the opportunity to beat them in the semis.

Now, I still believe that there are about eight or so teams that can beat one another on a given day but the Astros don't beat themselves. They make you earn everything that you get.

Hats off to the Astros for winning the tournament and to the Gamers for making it to the c'ship.

I am really looking forward to the battles in this age group for the next several years.

Great Job Astros! Going at with 9 all weekend is impressive. Great group of kids that continue to get it done.

Should be another great weekend of Baseball coming up.

Gotta agree with Shu on everything he states below about the Stros. We were excited to play them in the championship to see what all the fuss was about and they lived up to how good they really are. We couldn't strike them out, we couldn't throw them out on the bases, we couldn't stop their small ball game, and we couldn't hit it past them. When we did have runners (which was rarely!)...we didn't execute and they held us at bay on the bases. Guess that's why they were able to double dip us for the championship. Definitely the most fundamentally sound team we have played this year, and we have now played them all. Congrats to them and think they should have a legit shot at Elite 32.

Proud of our lil' ole team from Southside who played their hearts out and finally got the 6-4-3 and SP monkey off of our back!! Also had awesome all-around greatly played ball game by both teams with WFDD that we were fortunate enough to win. Guess we all get to do it again this weekend....hope we are recovered by then!

I am doing my part to try to make the schedule appear. I'm clicking the button as hard as I can, but it doesn't seem to be helping. And - is it just me - or did they move the start date from Thursday up to Wednesday? Maybe I just read it wrong originally, but I thought yesterday, the website said the pool games would start on Thursday. Now, it says they'll start tomorrow?

Baldy,

Maybe we are clicking at the same time and that's the problem. I noticed that 6/6 (tomorrow) is now the start date. Nothing would be "cooler" than having to tell our parents tomorrow morning that we play at 4PM today in Marietta. :-)

All,

I just heard from a very reliable source that U-Trip and East Cobb are working on finalizing the schedule and we should have it this afternoon. Also, the is a possibility that the tournament could start tomorrow so you might want to start "prepping" your parents. That should be fun...lol!
