My buddy Steel- give those guys a little credit. We all know u think their overrated and also know that CB is w/ them, but if that is true and they played a tourney during the week and did that, give them their props! My question to u is, are you saying the the undertones r coming from this board, ie Cumming Baseball or from people u talked to. Don't take the pitch count lightly or your showing a lot of ignorance.

Gamers,

I second that emotion! I didn't get any sleep on Saturday night once I saw that we had you guys in the first round. It was an incredible game! Those kids made play after play and kept swinging until the very last pitch. I am equally as proud to be a part of a very well-played game.

Keep up the good work!

" Everytime someone mentions Joe Louis you have to pull Rocky Marciano out your A-S"

SW

It was just a matter of time.Good to hear from you,I know you love the game as much as I do so it's very important to make this point. This was 643s time they earned it we did not give them anything, they took it from us so please don't take anything away from them.

I was simply stating that these coaches had to navigate through 13 games in 9 days with 7 pitchers and they did not compromise their values or the health of these kids.

NOW FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME PLEASE PUT US BACK IN YOUR TOP 5! OK OK TOP 6,7,8,9,10

Balker - I don't think the EC Braves are overrated...I rate them #6...that's just right

As to your question, yes, I have heard it from folks I've talked to that the Braves weren't "really" trying to win and to evidence that, they suggests that they still had very good pitchers with innings remaining that they could have used but didn't due to "pitch count" considerations. And on the board i'm inferring the same thing where "pitch count" and "the Brave" have been mentioned several times. My inference could be wrong and that's why I'm posing the question, "with all the pitching that was done during the week in the AABC event, did they "really" have more pitching?

I'm glad CB is being real stand-up about it and giving 643 kudos for a job very well done but lets not talk out of both sides of our mouth.

My thoughts on pitch count. 60 is a GREAT number and it's what I use with my boy. However, I know him and his workout program, and his arm maintenance program, and his throwing program.

If he had to once a year, he could toss 100 pitches. But again, I know the work he puts in for preparation of throwing 60 good pitches.

Once there was a discussion on even keeping track of practice pitches, warm-up pitches and game pitches by one team and their managers and coaches. They knew EXACTLY how many pitches each kid threw in a season.

It wouldn't be so bad if we all were that diligent.

I hope that makes sense.

Where would you rate this tournament....It's has to be the best event thus far this year.

With 6 or the 8 first round bracket game match-ups worthy of being semi-final or final games match-ups; WOW.

7 of the 8 first round games decided by 2 runs or less; 5 decided by 1 run!

First round comeback wins by Homeplate, Braves, Mayhem Elite, and the Bluejays with the Bluejays doing it with a walk-off GRANNY!

And what about the Braves dropping 23 big ones on Mayhem Bad-Boys in the Semi's after a SUPER STINGY Bad-Boy defense had only given up at most 2-runs in their previous 5 games including two nice shutouts!

That my friends was some kind of 10u action!

SW,

Makes perfect sense to me!!!

Sad to see that quite a few of these coaches do not track pitch counts even at this high level of baseball.

I agree with the 60 - 65 actual pitches, but like you said you must also factor warm-up pitches between innings. Now you are looking at close to 80 or more.

Another factor to throw in the mix is that some of these pitchers also catch!!!

Throw in some curve-balls if allowed by Coach/parent and you are asking for trouble.

Still...60 pitches...WOW, but 100 pitches...triple WOW!!! My son sat out during the fall season for a growth plate injury with his elbow. Trust me it’s not worth it.
It’s nice to see the excitement from everyone on the blog, but keep in mind these kids have a lot of growing yet to do. I’ve heard a lot of crazy things with kids training and it’s scary.
Just get these kids fundamentally sound and I bet they will be OK in the long haul. But if the arms go too soon then some parents may find their kid signing up to play another sport other then baseball. That’s if the injury is not too bad. Real Talk!!! They are only 10 (size don't matter in this case).

Steel/Will-no doubt some of these kids "could" throw 100 pitches if asked "one time". That is where the responsibility of coaches comes in. Your showing your your ignorance of a childs arm if just b/c he has the ability to throw 100 pitches one time during the season you allow him to do it. Do I think a kid w/an extensive workout program could do that, yes, but don't allow it. Now I realize that their are teams out there who allow it, just one guys opinion, obviously not shared by Steel Will. Thought you were smarter than that. You sound like a woman scorned when it comes to the EC Braves.

CB-What is the TBS tourney you are referring to, haven't heard of that one? I know what the Elites are

It should be great.

Alright so there has been a lot of talk about players throwing 70+ pitches in a game being bad for a 10 year olds arm. However, I have not seen anything in regards to the number of games and innings some of these pitchers will throw by the end of the season. So what is worse throwing 70+ innings once or twice in a season or throwing 60+ pitches every single weekend???
