Now that several folks here in GA have had a chance to watch the 2012 GA Bandit team play, what are your first impressions of the team? Do they still look like the best team in the state? How would you rank them in the region/country?
Their pitching, as always, looks very strong to me and is probably one of the biggest things separating them from the rest of the pack. How would you rate their pitching?
What would you say is the Bandits biggest strength? What is their biggest weakness? What do they need to do to get better (if anything)?
Hopefully, Papa this will get things going a little bit! I know this is a topic near and dear to your heart!!

They need to work on their split times relating to hanging their bags... that could really hold them back. Additionally, hitting so many home runs with the bases further apart will deliver many extra miles of base running... so weightloss could be a problem. With only 8 kids that can throw high 70s to 80s... how on earth will they compete! I also hear that they don't have anyone that can't switch hit... disaster! I hope they figure it out or they could be in for a long season...
Best of luck at the SNIT this weekend - hopefully you'll find an occassional mound to pitch off ;0) |

I'm going to tell you what I think about the Bandits, they are the best team around this area. Now with saying that,we all know how much it takes to maintain and keep a strong team together.you have to give Troy alot of credit because when they are winning everyone takes the credit ,but when they hit a bump in the road all eyes goes to one person.Until you get on the field and have to make some decisions that can change the game,it should make you feel good what Troy does for each family on that team. But the players they have on this team are special, and it is hard to find a bunch of 'I's and become a great 'TEAM'like ya'll have done. I know that Papa don't give Stixx Baseball much credit, but when the middle schools get finished in South Ga. we will start playing alot more.Am I saying that we can play with the Bandits this year, I'm not sure, but maybe we will find out after April. |

The Bandits do have several kids that can switch hit but we didn't want you guys to see everything we had in one short weekend. Honestly we have a lot of little things to work on. The biggest thing we need is to play. The more games these guys play the better they will become at the little things. What I took away from the Georgia Jackets National game was the preparation that the Jackets had obviously put in. Their field and their facility along with the right people running the program is paying dividends for them and Papa was as proud of their effort as he was the Bandits win. I love my Bandits and bleed Bandit Red but I am also so very proud of all the Georgia youth baseball teams. |

Let me start of by saying HELLO to everybody. This is my first post and I look at the 14U and 13U forums almost everday. My son is 13 but he plays up in 14U.
I got a chance to chat with some of the bandits this past weekend in Alpharetta,GA. My son plays with the 14U Mid South Gamers and we traveled from Memphis,TN. We were staying at the same hotel as the bandits and I didn't know it until we came back from playing 3 games on saturday.
As we pulled up, my son said "Dad! Look next to us. There go the bandits!" I looked and as I got out the truck I spoke with 3 or 4 of them in the parking lot. LET ME TELL YOU. I was amazed at how humble but yet confident those boys were. As I was chatting with them, all the boys were oozing BASEBALL SWAG.......One of the questions I asked was "Do yall care about the teams who claim they are very good and are highly ranked before yall play them? One kid responded " No sir! Whoever is good, we want to play them"(something of that sort). Another kid jumped in and said "We played The Dirtbags and they were ranked #1 in the country. Tucker ended up striking out 17 batters that game".
They were just having fun and confident in there abilities. I was very impressed and I seen it clear that these boys are THE TRUTH on and off the field. Some of my son friends play for the 13U Dullin Dodgers "formally The Memphis Outlaws" this weekend at the Super N.I.T. Of course I'm pulling for the home team to do well this weekend but I cant help but respect what The Bandits organization is doing and have been doing for a long time.
I seen a man on the elevator early sunday morning and something told me to speak. I said " Hey. Are you associated with the bandits?" He said "Yes. My grandson plays for them." I then asked "Are you baseball papa?" He said "Yes I am". I started to ask for his autograph!.....lol(kidding). I had read numerous post from him and finaly got a chance to put a face with the name.
Great weekend playing in the Triple Crown Tourney in Cummings,GA. We had a ball and look forward to coming back REAL SOON. Sorry I'm so Long winded. Just excited BASEBALL IS BACK!!!!!!!

Taterhead03: Last year's 6U Bandits actually works out in my indoor facility and were the 6U Dizzy Dean World Champions last year. I had the pleasure of watching several of the State and World tournament games and was very impressed with their play. |
