Wide open! There about atleast 12 Teams depending on pitching and who is peaking at the right time that could be in the final 4. Should be fun.... |

I'm disappointed in this age group's lack of forum participation. This age group is probably the quietest, I wonder why that is? If you go to other age groups, you will see ongoing threads everyday. I know quite a few dad's and coaches that frequent the site, but they don't chime in.
I guess I'm just glad I have an older son with a more active age group. It keeps me informed on what teams are doing what. Hoping the 10's open up a little.
Good luck to all at the Super!!! It should be a war!!! |

Phattso,
I do not think it is that at all!
Personally, I do not think anyone wants to make comments on how it will go because it is truly wide open. There are so many great teams participating and so many have a chance to be there in the end on Sunday.
I personally respect each and every team playing in the 10u division. (All are super teams)
I would hate for anyone to come on here and make bold predictions only to be bounced after 3 pool play games. I think it is a respect factor among the teams.(Maybe I am wrong and being naive)
I am looking forward to a great weekend of baseball. Hopefully everyone returns home safe on Sunday.

This group does seem to be a littel quite even back in the fall. It might be that everybody is in a "wait and see" or probably more accurately put, a "wait and see what I've GOT" mode.
I think the talent is spread out to thin and everybody is missing 2, 3, or 4 players.
Bottomline, there are only so many 10u major players out there and nobody can get quite enough to get over the top! A lot of teams only carrying ten and some only nine!
Let's see how we fair against the out of state comp this weekend.

I think the EC Braves have to be one of the favorites. Beating the Buzz and the Astros back to back on Sunday. It will be fun seeing some of the out of town teams play this weekend. Hopefully our GA teams will be able to defend the home turf!!quote: Originally posted by Cumming baseball

Well said. As I said at least a dozen teams that can get into a groove and win the whole thing. The talent is deep some of the best in the country coming together for one tournament . You have to love it! |

I can totally understand teams not coming on here predicting who will win if they have a team participating. That is exactly why I don't. But, it doesn't have to be all about predictions. Providing scores and recaps is a great way for all of us to know what's going on out there. Or any other topic we come up that is worth discussing.
Jason, I look forward to seeing you guys play. I've heard a lot of good things about your team. I'd have to think you guys are a favorite in this thing. Good luck this weekend and we wish you safe travels!!

This is week 2 for some teams. Week 3 for a few others and maybe even week 4 for the early birds. This is most teams 3rd weekend of play in this 2012 Spring season. So, no chatter about it being early or your team being rusty. The only true excuse now would be injuries. And Injuries change team dynamics greatly... I think this weekend will provide a good understanding of where the top, middle and bottom of teams are. The EC Braves have to be the class of the age group(today) whether they win this weekend or not. Winning two TC in a row makes you for real. The Gades and the Astros have been strong....That does not mean the other quality programs will not step forward. Just too many good teams in this age group.
Keep hearing how good the Blue Jays are and the Mayheim Bad Boys are. Well they seldomly play in the age group or on the Northside. But both are in this this weekend. Excited to see how they do.
The SNIT providing 2 Berths to Disney has really drawn in more out of town teams. I heard early in the year a lot of chatter about teams goals being the E32. Well some teams sneak in at 9U but moving forward earning a birth becomes very difficult.
Coaching will be a major factor in this tournament. You have to be in the top of your pool to advance. Pitching strategy will be huge. Teams will have to burn up good pitching early to advance. The teams with Friday night games have a huge advantage from a pitching stand point. But good luck getting to the Southside with Friday-Atlanta traffic. I encourage everyone to enjoy this season. These are great times you will be spending with your boys. Lets all try to keep it fun for the boys and lets rememeber they are playing. We are watching. Good Luck to everyone and safe travel to all of the teams getting there this weekend. |

Everyone is making great points and here are acouple more: - First couple of weeks I noticed the great coaching taking place at the 10U level. We are all blessed to have some really good talent and the coaches dedication to teach baseball and life lessons to these boys is simply awesome! Well done men! - Talent level is simply incredible. Some plays, hits and mental decisions being made by these 10U boys can be compared to boys much older and more seasoned. - Any team is capable of "bringing it" - Any team is capable of "not showing up" for a game, then "bringing it" the next - Excited to have the top teams from around the Southeast coming to play. Looking forward to seeing X1, Mayheim BB, Havoc, Upstae Drive and Evoshield on the field. Have heard great things! - In all, let's travel safe, play hard and competitive and uphold the highest level of sportsmanship!
See you at the fields!

I would say the two teams that have a good shot are the Braves and the X1 Twins. I think you would be hard pressed to find a better defense in 10U as the Braves and the X1 Twins can just flat out play. That does bring up a good question though...With X1's SNIT win in South Carolina this fall....and if they end up in the finals.....would USSSA award the birth to the 3rd place team? In know I'm getting ahead of myself but I think it's a legit question. |

The EC Braves and X1 do have a good shots but they both lost Friday and will have to step their game up. |

Down to the Final 4. EC Astros, Blue Jays, Mayheim Elite and Home Plate.
Impressive runs by all. Stros and Jays had a play in game so they are playing 4th today. Winner goes to the ship. In my mind thats one heck of an accomplishment! Hats off to the final 4.
Over all, great weekend of ball and watcing some great talent. Fields were great, to bad I had the time to spread some nitrogene on my lawn today!
Like we've been saying, SO much talent at the 10U major level.
Congrats to all. |

I watched the Astros play bracket against Evoshield and they showed why they are one of the best coached teams in the country.Great defense, Moving runners by playing small ball and never getting down on themselves they expect to win even when they play a team that was clearly bigger and looked like they had more weapons.
Great job |

Definitely congrats to the Astros for winning 5 games in one day even if they had to bring in a couple of players for the games on Sunday. I was surprised to see RBI Rangers and Mayhem Bad Boys not make bracket play especially after Mayhems strong showing in the Fall. EliteGamers and Homeplate showed that they are still strong teams. Good to see so many competitive teams. |

Congrats Astros! To remain focused for 5 games while beating top talent is quite an achievement. Only one complaint for the weekend was watching one of the "more animated" fan bases trying to get into 10 year old boy's heads while batting. Yelling "GOT HIM"!! in a loud voice at the batter as the ball leaves the pitchers hand is bush league! I watched him do it the whole tournament without hardly being reprimanded. People like that should be asked to leave the game. |

I know everyone likes to talk about the Majors, but how about a shout out for the South Forsyth Giants, who ran through the AAA Super NIT at 6-0, with scores of 11-3; 14-6; 7-6; 7-3; 9-5; and 13-1 in the championship. I've seen them play, and they are also for real. Congrats, guys. |

How about Team Triton for winning Super NIT AA. Congrats!!
Sounds like South Forsyth Giants need to move up to Majors with a run like that through the Super NIT. |
