In Division 2 I like Mission Baseball to win it. GA Jackets American, Roswell Jackets Black, Sandy Plains Prowlers, and North Gwinnett Red should do well.

In Division 1, Bandits win, Team Elite Black, HP Black, Gwinnett Elite do well.

Slugfest: Forsyth County Facilities:

All of the Forsyth County and City of Cumming Baseball Parks I have been to (I think I've been to all of them) have at least 2 batting cages (City Park in Cumming & Dobbs Creek Park in Cumming), and the County owned parks will have 6-8 cages. They can be widely scattered about, so if you only see a few, ask someone where the rest are.

Most have some kind of foul ball containment structures. You should see decent fencing, nets, tall backstops, ect.. Most are newer parks that have been built in the past 10 years.

Each Forsyth County owned baseball park has a character all its own. Not as cookie cutter as Gwinnett. Most Forsyth parks look a bit different from one another. Some features you will see are:

Paved and well marked parking, good access/egress, nice restroom buildings, well run concessions, good signage to direct you to fields. Outfield distance markers, cement floor and covered dugouts, and working scoreboards. All the small stuff you don't notice unless you go to a place that doesn't have it.

Most Forsyth County owned fields drain well, and they have adequate machinery/tools/equipment to do the job if it rains.

I've been to many of the huge Triple Crown events in Cobb County, huge USSSA Super NIT tourney on the South side, and large Forsyth County Slugfests. In my opinion, the Forsyth County Slugfest is #1 overall from a facilities standpoint when every single venue used is factored in to the equation.

Central, Coal Mountain, Fowler, Midway, Sawnee Mountain, & Sharon Springs Parks are the Forsyth County-owned parks that I think will meet or exceed expectations.

West Forsyth Field is privately owned and operated and is a special treat for the younger boys who get to play there. The adjacent restaurant used to have a big screen showing game in progress, not sure if it still does, but it was a unique feature we really liked.

Papa would much rather play in the venue's that moser just described than the hodge podge of the present Atlanta Super NIT and think it would a huge plus for USSSA if they located the Atlanta Super NIT on these fields as soon as it becomes possible.

Is there a reason USSSA has not already done this as I believe that we might have discussed this on some previous posts. Might be a challenge for USSSA that I don't know about but I know Forsyth and Gwinnett should be able to handle the Super NIT.

The reason repeatedly given is that the south side is the only area that can provide the large number of fields during the requested time. No one else is able or willing to disrupt their rec leagues to supply the number of fields necessary other than our friends in the McDonough/Griffin area.

Can't they just hold the different age groups on separate weekends then?

That is what we are always told every time we ask....But Good Lord those fields are HORRIBLE.....Last season we played on a 195ft field(homerun derby or should I say pop up derby) and our field didn't even have a mound!! It was just a pitching rubber on dirt. The "biggest" and "best" tournament as they like to to call it should get fields that aren't pitiful. JMO

Not bad...
Division 2 picks: 7-3 in pool play, 3 of 5 made Gold.
Division 1 picks: went 7-1 in pool, 3 out of 4 made Gold.
Overall 14-4, 6 of 9 make Gold.

Now onto bracket play, C'mon Mission Team!

Moser, good picks but there is no team called Roswell Jackets Black. Roswell Hornets Green are in the gold bracket.

I mixed up Green and Black.I thought I saw some impressive scores out of Black last Fall or earlier this Snowball season, but I guess I was mistaken. Its tough when there are multiple teams out of the same park with the same names but different color designations.

I think I mixed up Elite Black and Grey too.

Friday night, I skate up to the rinks (it felt hockey night in Canada) and there's Sharon Springs-Blue wearing Black and Sharon Springs-Black wearing Blue. I had brain freeze for a few minutes.

I'd take the time to write this all down to try to get it straight, but I can't feel my fingers to write when it's this cold.

Congrats to all the winners and finalists! The weather cooperated for the most part, and I hope a good time was had by all.

The Georgia Jackets played great game against the Bandits, and gave them all they wanted. Gwinnett Elite scored 5 runs against the Bandits, and we all know how tough that is to do.

Kudos to Division 2 Gold winners North Gwinnett-Black. Nobody saw that coming and some of those family's ride our school bus. My bad

How did you like the event?

I thought the umpiring was the best ever for this tourney. I saw the ECB Pride 1st baseman jump off the bag to catch a throw at 1st and the wrong call was made, then the umps got together and corrected the mistake. I was right on that play, and the umps did a great job to get it right. Made me proud.

I just wanted to say thank you to Tony V for putting together a fantastic tournament. I agree with the comment about the umpires. They were confident and engaging. Congrats to the Bandits on another great win. See you in Conyers next weekend. BTW Papa, your grandson is being compared to Bryce Harper at 13. For those of you who missed it, he fisted a 350 ft shot over the 325 sign in center field today.

THANKS for the positive comments. This was a great weekend of baseball with the biggest Slugfest ever at 252 teams !

I got to watch alot of baseball and enjoyed every minute of the 40+ hours I put in at the park. I was very impressed with the 643 organization as a whole, on and off the field. Great group of coaches, parents and players. Thanks to everyone for helping to make this a great event.

There are so many things that make this such a great tournament that the Bandits always enjoy playing.

The #1 first thing is the charities that this event sponsors and knowing that our having so much enjoyment can help others out.

The 2nd thing is Bill Moats and Triple Crown for making sure that every single "i" is dotted and every "t" crossed. Papa has made it a point to never say much good about any umpire but I will say that if I ever change this policy that these umpires did a great job.

The third and most very important thing that makes this tournament so special is the venue's. We didn't play on them all but the one's we did was head's and above better than most. Forsyth County residents should be very proud of their recreation department for these venue's and the way they are kept up.

Thank you Slugfest and keep up the "Good Work" and you can bet the Bandits will always be glad to be a small part of this very "Classic Event"

And thank you for the comments about my grandson. He is just one of many that love playing the game but I am proud of not only his skills but his attitude.
