Another notch in the Braves belt both by winning it and once again making the pool play games as evenly matched as possible. There was a ton of: this team beat that team but then that team beat THAT team and so on. Numbers dont lie, 13 of the 18 pool games were decided by 3 runs or less, I think thats a combo of great scheduling and parity at the 12u level this year. It looks to me like the Elite Gamers may have been the biggest surprise, beating the WillS park team in pool play is no small task and getting the top seed, WP has been one of the top teams at this age group for many years. Beating WP twice though, usually doesnt happen.
6 innings max(+1) this coming weekend will change everything for a lot of teams. Those that have a couple big arms, will save them for Sunday but may be throwing them in the Bronze bracket. Its basically the same teams from this weekend but adding in powerhouses Germantown and the EC Longhorns will change up the brackets on Sunday. Possible powerhouses like Hobgood and the Chilidogs who just won a tourney will make it even more interesting.

The Rays kid from Columbia County is part of the team and not a ringer, good pitcher but not their ace. To bad we couldn't see a rays/braves match up as that seems to be the one piece missing from the rays resume.
11U Astros can play but the 12yr old boys are getting bigger now, you can see it when they play 11 yr old teams as pueberty has hit some. |

Like I said, we will see when rosters are Frozen. Fall all the way through to April 1st, means nothing. Teams can say and play any pick up player they want, different story when April rolls around. |

RaysFan/Bravesfan,

Not sure why rosters have to be frozen to prove anything, teams will pick up a kid here and there and will lose a kid here and there but that happens each year. Most teams will go out and play their normal roster each weekend, not like all these guys are bringing in kids from Cali to play the braves next weekend. Besides, unless there is a dominate pitcher out there 1 kid isn't going to matter all that much.
Now those florida teams, thats another chapter in my upcoming book, youth travel ball. that is where you get kids picked up for the weekend, flying in studs for a tournament and the red carpet treatment for a few pampered studs. It's not like that here in metro ATL baby, it's all good and most are keepin it real. |

Can't believe the Rays are being accused of bringing in hired guns. Have not been around these parts much, but I do know there are few ECB teams that do not change their rosters during the season, Braves, Rays, Stars and Spartans come to mind. Some of these other coaches have different players every weekend. Not taking anything away from the Phillies, but I doubt very seriously that the coach of the Rays rolled out the red carpet to have the former Columbia County player come and go 6 strong against the Phillies on Sunday. |

The Longhorns lost 2 players to the Astros and our best glove to the Stars, we also lost 2 power hitting catchers. Only bracket we might change is the Bronze one. I hear the Hobgood Thrashers are the real deal, picked up two of 643's better players and are stacked.
Hopefully, we can upset a team or two and sneak into one of the higher brackets. |
