Not sure where those rankings came from but i would have to put Home Plate Chilidogs(Kearns)in the mix as well. I didn't view the standings so I'm not sure who's all on there... |

The 9u Ga Yarddogs are a good team to watch out for. Also watch out for the Atlanta Angels. |

I would like to hear from you guys on your take as well...it is a given that polls like USSSA points system can be a little distorted because a team could just rack up points playing in weaker tournaments...The power rankings fall under similar issues as well..but the one that is really alarming to see is the Coaches poll. It is really strange to see a landslide vote for a team that is really not that strong by so many coaches. How could this be? Daddy ball perhaps? or just these coaches really truly don't know the game.... I just wanted to get you alls opinion.... |

Dee,
Coming from a coach in your guys's age group, you guys are definitely the top dog on top of the hill right now. I had to go look to see how skewed the coaches poll is right now. The way I look at it, its a clear example of new coaches not being realistic about there teams in comparison to the rest of the field. I mean really....a coach wins a one day FALL shootout, and you want to vote your team tops in the state??? You can draw your own conclusions!
As far as teams playing weaker tourneys. I don't think most major teams look for weaker tourneys, and if its the only tournament available for "said" weekend and especially in the fall, all you can do is play the teams that are available.
Coming from our team, you guys a very well respected and we look forward to some great baseball to be played this coming season.

Thanks west coast...I wasn't saying it just on our behalf...but their are other good teams as well that we're being overlooked... But as far weaker tournaments...I was not trying to say teams intentionally look for lesser tournaments .....that would be trophy chasing...and we know that don't happen...LOL...
But no seriously in the fall it is what it is....you play to get the work and whomever sign up you play.. We are looking forward to this spring and playing so good compettition from everyone... |

Boy, Bush is at work in Travel Baseball! I thought someone fixed those hanging chads from 2000 in FL? I guess not! See you popular coaches on the 10u field! |

Try not to get all worked up over nothing. I think anyone that knows anything about this age group knows the Atlanta Angels is by far the best. The problem is all the coaches that know choose not vote. If every coach voted their top 5 like it's set up for the good teams would push to the top. You have 60 points total for the number one team, that's only four votes. I would be willing to bet those four casted only two votes one for their team and one for the only team they played leaving this pole pointless. So let's save the political bull(COOLROB)for a different forum. This is a 9u baseball forum, right? |

@gwtstorm...my posting was not directed at our team...i just wanted to open the dialogue..that's it...but I do feel that with the system in place the coaches in travel ball should have more respect for the system than to just vote for their team... Be as honest as you can by taking your emotions out of the equation...but because it is a blind poll they can hide behind their votes and not look crazy to the rest of the travel ball community...

ATLDEE-No, you are absolutly correct. I think these poles are a joke. There are several teams that deserve more respect but, out of every team the Atlanta Angels has out performed them all in this age group. I have a ton of respect for your team, none for the political comments from the other post. If my team was in major I would start with the final four teams(Angels,Bulldog Baseball,Greys, and Yard Dog-Red) from last year then work my way down. We are AAA at this point so I have to vote on teams in our class. The last thing I would do is put my team ahead of a proven team unless we went out and proved it on the field. No emotion at all. |

I will say these polls are polls just thoughts. One thing I have learned over this winter is just coach good baseball and move on. I almost lost my team and lost focus on what is important and why I started my tournament team. Sometimes the price of trying to build or be a super team is not worth it in the long run. People nobody is getting a check for your son today or in years to come for what they are now as a player. I got lost in trying to be that team on the top of the polls. I should have been happy with what our team and the kids did the past two seasons and built from there. My goal is to take the kids that I have and play good sound baseball. I have a friend that sat me down and asked me what in the $%^^ are you doing!!! Cause I was hell bent on getting better the wrong way. That talk really open my eyes to what I was doing and the grave mistake that I was going to make. If we don't win an event this year but each of my players gets better that is worth more than the berth to any event. Just me polls cool but don't lose focus on why we are here guys to coach and help kids. |
