What is the best way to find college showcase tournaments for my son's team next summer? He has done a couple individual college showcases but we want our team to participate in some as well.
Contact Lou at LOUISMLLERANDI@YAHOO.COM or (404)401-2794 for Berkeley Baseball Academy. They sponsor showcase tournaments at areas colleges. We played last summer - tournaments were held in Alabama and all over GA. We also participate in showcase tournaments sponsored by Team Elite. You are normally gurantee a set number of games against very competitive teams. As a 16U team we played mostly 17U teams. The kids really enjoyed playing in a college stadium setting.
I'm sure Team Elite will let you in. They are showcase tournaments and they make money off them. They are not the typical bracket play tournaments. You basically go out and play 4 games over the weekend in front of some college scouts. No trophies, no tournament winner. It's all about showcasing. If they don't want to play you because you are from Gwinnett, they just won't schedule any games with you. Really don't think they would keep you out of the tournament. Give it a shot. They are usually pretty well run and, at a minimum, the coaches from the school you are playing at will be at almost every game. Often times there are coaches from other schools as well.
I have heard that they don't really want teams from Gwinnett in their events since that is the same pool of talent that they pull from. Just what I have heard from coaches.
