Many teams played up last yr and it was easy since the field is the same but to play up now your playing 54 ft mound and 80 ft bases.

How many teams will attempt to play up next spring?

The Nats are planning to play in 2-3 13u tournaments next spring, starting with the Slugfest. Several of our boys pitched off the 54 foot mound for the first time last night, and they did surprisingly well. I'd go straight to the big field if I could!

My son played on those dimensions last year for his middle school. Wasn't really much problem for pitching but base running was most affected. Not alot of legging out an infield single or base stealing going on. Certainly at that pitching distance you won't see anyone throwing it by you. Most of the time he was way up in the box and still pulling foul, so that is an adjustment for the batter to make. I really don't like jumping back and forth during the season cause the kids have to make so many adjustments per the field.
