My 11U son has been using a Prodigy forever and want to get a new bat. He's been using a 30/20 and I am looking into the Demarini Vexxum. Any suggestions/comments about the performance and durability of this bat? If this is not a good option what is something else that would be a better option to look into? |

demarini makes great products but each one has a different feel. the vexxum has more give to it and is typically not used by power hitters (this wasnt the case when my kid was coming up but it is now). the voodoo is stiffer thru the barrel and in my opinion a better fit for power and all around hitters. both have large sweet spots and are two piece construction. both are also very durable and keep their pop for some time. this is not to say the vexxum isnt a good bat. its a great bat. but you have to like the flex type feel you get with it vs the voodoo. one thing i can say about the voodoo is this- kids who start using them early on tend to stick with them for a long time. |

What about the cf5. I only hear good things about it. Better than combat B2 now B3? Or the marcucci? |

The cf5 and B3 bats are 100% composite. The Marucci Cat 5 is not. The composites tend to be more durable and last longer. I didn't think I could go wrong with any of these bats. Chose the B3 -8 and my son loves it. I am sure he would have felt the same way if we chose the CF5 or the Cat 5. You may want to go to some place where your son can swing these bats and see which one feels most comfortable. |

I went with the 2012 Voodoo after last season seeing some unreal hits with the Voodoo Black & Gold 2010 model. By “unreal”, I mean with what didn’t apear to be an overly hard or aggressive swing, the ball ended up hitting the fence at 200 feet from a 9u player. Additionaly, since we swing a lot of wood in practice, my goal was to use something that was more “end-loaded” and historically, DeMarinis fit this bill. But in general, I chose a bat who’s performance caught my eye from my visual experience. I’ve seen well hit balls off the CF5 from the some big kids, but I didn’t see anything “unusual”. The fielder was not fooled by the carry of the ball or over match by the speed, power or sharpness of the hit; as a matter of fact, I’ve seen more pop off the CF4 and a LOT more pop of the CF3. All of these bats I have observed out perform the Vexxum.

Check also the Louisville Vertex, the word is that it has Prodigy type "pop" without having the durability problems.

Louisville has so many models it's hard to keep up sometimes!
How do the Z-1000, Vertex, ExoGrid, and Omaha compare performance wise? Does one have more pop than another? Is one dramatically more end loaded?
Which one swings really light?
Then they have the drop -12 & -11 Triton and Catalyst also!!!!
With such big drops for senior league bats they're compelling however, Nations has indicated they won't allow anything with greater than a -10 drop. |

Well my son has been hitting with the vexxum for years and he is our power hitter. The bat performs well, huge sweet spot and a great bat for its price. My son is now 13 and will be using the -5 and is already hitting bombs with it. He loves the flex action. He has been hitting well over two hundred for years now. I watched him hit a walk off grand slam on the top field at midway park. It went over the net across the parking lot and hit the building on the other side at 11 years old. tournament director said that was the longest ball he had ever seen hit by an 11 year old. He has been doing the same thing every since. Vexxum in my opinion highly recommended. |
