Spartan4, I'll take Diablos & EC phillies for 2nd & 3rd. You never know they could win it.

The goal in this tournament is to see who can get on the opposite bracket of the Braves and then get to the Ship. Viper Baseball Academy should take 2nd if they get 2nd 0r 3rd seed. Also, I give the Buckhead, Navy, and the Royals just as much chance as the Phillies, not so sure on the Diablos or Sox.

Buckhead will play as the Gnats. We are a rec-league that produces two teams in the summer: the Braves and the Bucks. (our top 22 players)

In the fall, we play under the Gnats name for various reasons, but the team is comprised of both Braves and Bucks. What team you run into depends on football commitments.

We just hope to get the kids some at bats and as much exposure to top baseball as we can and stay within our model.

How is that the EC Braves are the only team that does not have to use pitching on back to back days? HHMMMM!

One of the benfits of setting up a tournament for sure but in reality would it really matter? braves are deep in pitching so the question will be can anyone stay within 10 runs tomorrow?

Reasons for us playing 2 games on Friday: 3 kids with football games at different times on Saturday, one kid with a lacrosse game on Saturday and one kid with a brother who is a LB for FL Gators and they traveled to Auburn for the game. We carry 11 kids so that would have left us with 6 on Saturday. USSSA rules won't let you start a game with 6 players. All of the teams that had a special scheduling request were honored with it without any trouble.

I'm not sure what we've done to anyone to garner some of these ridiculously negative posts. We've never cheated, never had a coach or fan thrown out of a game, never ripped anyone off(although I do owe the FL Pokers coach $2 and will repay him when they come back in May), never had fights in the stands, etc. The posts in this age group have just taken a wrong turn somewhere.

Don't drink the haterade. This team was one of the top 3 Major teams in the state last year. Supposedly they did not lose many players if any. They could not even use Friday's pitchers and still win the tourney. They gave up a few runs in two games and put up over 30. Let's think about this rationally.

I can tell you the Phillies requested two late Sat. games
due to lacrosse and football friday night and sat morning.
And the braves honored them.
Great tournament. Lots of good matchups today...

The Braves do sometimes get a bad rap, but I think it's a very small vocal minority who do it. That team has set the bar for this age group for years, and they do it the right way from what I can tell. Plus, they set up the best local tournament I've ever seen. Speaking of that, is the BOS back on for 2012?????

Cogradulations to all the teams, great tournement from what I heard.
As for the Phillies, if they would have all been healthy I think the outcome would have been a little different for the tournement.

Afghandad thanks for the words of encouragment. The
phillies just come out flat the second game in bracket play.
The Royals team is a great team. Very solid offensive and defensive
team. Our phillies team is working on being more
consistant. Being a new team we are working hard. We have a great group of kids (and parents) and look
forward to spring.

afgandad,

looks like the phillies lost 11-1 in the semi's, are you saying that a couple of kids would of made that big of a difference?

I can tell you that the injuries did not cause this outcome. Those Royals kids hit everything we threw at them and hit the ball hard. Fastballs, offspeed, off their shoe tops! They were on fire and earned the win.

Im not saying the teams are bad and I apoligize to all offended great play from all the teams.
All I am saying is that if your whole team is healthy the outcome could be different.
By no means am I taken away from any team, to play at this level you have to be good.
Again I am sorry to all offended. And again congratulations to all.

afghandad,

I dont think anyone took it as offensive but I personaly thought based on the score it wouldn't have really mattered. now if it was a 1 or 2 run game and your missing your best pitcher or clean up hitter then that might of made a difference but when your talking about a game where a team got run ruled I doubt it would have affected the outcome. thats jmho
