I only see the Lake Lanier Copperheads and Atlanta BlueJays 10u. The 2012 BlueJays are a 9u Yarddog, 9u Raiders & 10u Bluejay mix.
Good luck...it should be fun. |

So does anyone have any picks for this weekends Super NIT. GA is well represented but looks like some pretty stout teams from all over. |

I'm anxious to see how N.GA Renegades fair. It doesn't look like the Copperheads added any players from last year but they should be solid. The EC Braves should do well. |

Well, interesting results at the South Carolina SNIT.
Big congrats to the Mayhem Bad Boys representing the EAST-SIDE. Real nice 2nd place finish. |

I wouldn't call it interesting, just add another team from off the radar into the mix. Congrats to the X1 Twins - very solid program, with some strong players - I'd expect them to make some noise this year. They've got some strong players, and have Elite 32 experience.
The bigger surprise should be that the 5 teams ranked top 25 in 9u last year finished no higher than 6th.
Great job by Mayhem all weekend.. |

Mayhem vs Twins was for the ship - The titans game was earlier - I believe quarterfinals |

For some reason Usssa web site has the games mixed up. Our Sunday games were 1)Carolina Gamecocks 2)Greenville Titans 3)Bulldog Force 4) X1-Twins in the ship, which they won. It was a very well run tournament but the reporting wasn't very accurate. The director said this is by far the most teams they have had in one bracket so there were some growing pains.
Hats off to the X1-Twins, they have a great team and a great program. Also Bulldog Force played their butts off all weekend, had a 8-inning a 9-inning game on Sunday and continued to battle! |

The Bad Boys lost the championship game to a great hitting X-Twins team from the Charlotte area....congrats to the Bad Boys on an excellent showing for Mayhem organization! |

Consolation game; more than likely.
Is there a less fierce snake from the Atlanta area that could be used as a team mascot?
Just wondering, and that's for the rude coach I ran into last year at a concession stand. Good luck next year boy's. |

Games 29 and 30 are backwards. The championship was Bad Boys vs Twins. Bad Boys have some Yard Dogs with them this season. |

Thanks for clearing that up. Does USSSA normally put the "innings pitched" info in? Would be interesting to see how all the pitchers were used.
Fierce snake from Atlanta?
When I saw what X1 did in pool play I thought they would be strong. |

Really surprised Coppersheads went 0-3??? Renagades drew a strong RBI Rangers team and knocked early along with EC Braves. Braves appeared to do well in pool play but ran into Havoc in bracket.
As well, congrats to Mayhem representing GA with NIT 2nd place finish! We atually saw them a couple times last year at 9U and they were pretty good had a hard throwing righty with a nasty change maybe just one of top 5 pitchers at 9U in GA.
Looks like 2012 10U should be another interesting year in GA, teams reloading? |

I as well was very surprised to see the Copperheads go winless on the weekend!!!
I've watched this team be at the top of the talent level in this age group for the last 2 years. Makes me wonder if the have any roster changes or turnover since the Spring???? |

Pitching matchups
Copperheads got themselves into a bind by losing both Pool games. And met up for the play-in game with the Red Sox team that also got themselves into a bind losing both pool games. Red Sox ran out their top pitcher remaining from last years team for 6 innings vs Copperheads. So he was done for Sunday bracket play.
Got to have deep pitching. X1 ran thier top 2 vs the Copperheads on Friday night and rested them on Saturday after getting a win.
Some big plays and individual performances by the X1 team.

From a Copperhead parent, that is a very accurate description. In regards to X1, they are a solid team but I have never seen 10 years old kids that tall.
But a big congrats to Mayhem! |

I was also a little taken back by the size of a couple of the X-1 kids, there SS/3 hole hitter was pushing 5'9"/5'10"! With that said, that lineup 1-9 HIT, I watched a couple of innings of there games on Sunday and they had a few that could bring it in the mound.....they will be a force come time for the Elite 32 next summer.

Yes, they did but we scored 4 runs quickly. We did not do well against the 5'10 kid. The pitcher for the RedSox that threw 6 innings against us is a tremendous pitcher. He was bringing the same velocity on the 110th pitch as he was on the first pitch. |

So, did the Copperheads loose some pitching from last years team? Depth is key to playing these bigger events but even then sometimes it just about having all the stars aligned, as well.
X1 now has 4 from Carloina Sox it appears, already some Elite 32 experience right there. |

We are a good size team but we looked like 8U compared to the X-1 team! I am 5'11 1/2" and was eye to eye with SS/pitcher during handshake after the game. They grow them big in North Carolina! |

Ok, he's not really 5'10.. he's probably closer to 5 '8 , LOL.
I remember when he filled in with my 9u and 10u teams over the last few seasons and he was the tallest kid out there - Matter of fact, he's taller than any of my 11u kids this fall!! Great kid too, very polite and a heck of a ballplayer
X1 is a very well coached team, and they are just starting to gel. Sounded like the did well for themselves this past weekend |
