Pope Jr. Baseball will have open team tryouts to fill the last remaining roster spots on Thurs 8/25 @ 5:30-7:00pm and 7:00-8:30pm. The Jr. Greyhounds program is the developmental feeder program for Pope High School that focuses on fundamentals, speed, agility and conditioning to prepare players for competition on senior level fields. Especially needed are pitchers, catcher and outfielder. 7th & 8th graders in the Pope school district should register online at www.PopeJrGreyhounds.com at the Tryouts page. A select number of out of district players will be considered for the team.
The Jr. Greyhounds play all games on 60/90 infield, and play home games at Pope Field. Players are required to use -5 or heavier bat; no composites allowed. Schedule consists of fall training and then league games against other feeder teams as well as travel tournaments in the spring.
