Question for coaches and parents. What would you include in a code of condut agreement for players. I would like both coach and parent input if you would. |

I think it is a good thing. They need discipline, expectations and responsibility to have good sportsmanship. The best coached teams teach the boys things way beyond baseball. If you want a team to be successful, teach them to respect the game.
Include things like: never let your dad carry your equipment... |

Have the parents sign it as well and understand their conduct is also to be in line with sportsmanship. |

You should always have a code of conduct. I think this is more for the parents then there children. However, if it's not enforced everytime and all the time no one will care. Parents get a sense that you have poor leadership skills or waiver I'm your decisions and there like sharks in the water. I have seen alot of good coaches be treated unfairly because they tried to be too nice. |

Okay. I went back and read the original post and realized the question is "what would you include?" maybe we can start a list to help out Vols.
1. No parents coaching from the bleachers

2. Any questions or concerns parents may have should be taken up with the coach in private and not after a game or in front of the players or other parents. 3. Players are always expected to attend all practices. Unless it is a reasonably excused absence. Then the coach should be notified. 4. All players are expected to be respectful at all times with there teammates and all coaches and parents. This is for the parents as well. 5. It doesn't take talent to hustle and should be done at all times.
I could go on and on..... |

Dear Players….
I hope that you are as excited about playing baseball with the Fayette Force as we are about coaching you guys and developing a team that will be wildly successful! Your parents and the coaches of this team are putting forth a great effort to help you be successful but there will be some expectations from you, as well.
The chances of our team being a success can be directly affected by the ability of each player to live up to the following…….
• Always be respectful…in other words, be a gentleman at all times • Listen to your coaches, teachers, and parents as they are teaching you • When coaches are talking you should be listening…not talking • Be a good student in all of your classes • Be on time to class, practice, and games • Be a team player (everyone has a role) • Understand that the only bad position is the one outside the fence • Work constantly to improve on the field and in the classroom • Be enthusiastic, dependable, loyal, and cooperative • Be in the best possible condition both physically and mentally • EARN the right to be on the baseball field! • Keep your emotions under control without losing your aggressiveness • Don’t let one little error take you out of the game • Never, ever, ever, ever criticize a teammate • Avoid being selfish, jealous, or envious • Do not expect things to be given to you…earn them! • Never question or argue with an umpire…don’t even look at them in anger or disbelief • Excuses are not tolerated…proper preparation eliminates the need for excuses • Keep faith in your teammates and coaches at all times • Do not “dog”, sulk, boast, or showboat • Never have a reason to be sorry after the fact • Understand your weaknesses and work to improve them • FOCUS on your strengths • Expect to succeed in all that you do...but never be satisfied • Avoid negative thoughts…think positive, be positive and anything is possible • Never walk on the baseball field • Make no negative comments toward the other team…only cheer your teammates on • Wear your uniform proudly and with respect (shirt tucked in, hat on straight, hair under hat) • Play focused and hard until the very last out…no let downs during the game • Learn everything you can about the game of baseball • Think 1, 2, 3 steps ahead of what might happen and act on it….don’t watch the movie, be an actor! • Drink plenty of water during breaks and between innings…for weekend tourneys start the day before
If you, as a player, will promise to do everything listed above then we, as your coaches, will promise to teach you to become the best baseball player that you can be! We truly believe that if each of you do your part, and we do our part, that we will win a bunch of baseball games this year!!
Sincerely,
The Coaches
