Can any one advise on what to purchase (-8.5, -5, -3)
My son weighs 80lbs and is currently using a 30/20, I want to have him use the same bat this fall that he would use in the spring

based on his size if the league allows he probably needs to stick with the size weight he is using if the middle school program allows it.

Some of the shops around will time your son's swing in mph with different size bats. This can help you decide if you are going too heavy too early.

we play middle school in dekalb county also, they allow bats of all weights there. If your son is 13u, he should really start swinging a -5, but at only 80 lbs, I would recommend -8.5 this year, -5 next year and -3 at 15.
