Coaches, we have been trying to get setup with Cooperstown for 2012 to play in the 10U tournament. I was told by their director of baseball operations that they would not be having a 10U or 11U tournament, and that they were working on what they would be doing with those age groups. He told me to check their academy page. When I checked this page it says,
" Cooperstown Dreams Park is currently developing a weekly, alumni based program to cultivate an appreciation for the fundamentals of baseball both on and off the field. The vision of the program is to incorporate alumni, 11U, and 10U boys and girls who love the game. Through a regimen of on the field training and skill development, the Baseball Academy and Student of the Game program will expose participants to a tournament setting as well as some of the best resources, coaches, trainers, technology and equipment available. Off the field, through an established curriculum, these programs will focus on developing a greater appreciation for all aspects of the game, including history, community, tradition, and preservation of values."
I hope it is not so, but it appears that the big 10U tourney days are over there. Have any of your heard anything further? I know you have to plan a long time in advance to play there as 10U. |

Lou hinted at this in a conversation we had with him one late night this year. At that time he believed that the Gainesville, FL site would be ready for 13U in 2012 and the North Carolina site would be available for 11U "and others" in 2012. I wonder if that is what he is talking about.

That is a bummer. The registration form on their site show for 2011 the 10U week but 2012, 13 and 14 do not. A great experience on fields really made for ten year olds and not twelve year olds. |

It is over. Lou is trying to build out these tournaments by age group all over the country. |

Cooperstown will no longer be holding tournaments in the 10u age group. All 9u - 11u age groups will be able to play at the new Nations Park that Lou is building in Newberry, Florida. This park is under construction and is scheduled to open April 1, 2012. I was there last week and they are grading now. Teams must be registered with Nations Baseball to play at this park. Lou is planning the 1st tournament the first week of April in the 13u age group but the age group may change. I'll post more info as it becomes available. You can follow the construction progress of the park at www.nationspark.com

Looks like they stay booked regardless. Is there no room to expand the existing facility and offer other ages there? |
