The 12U Northview Jr. Titans will be holding tryouts on Saturday, July 23rd, and Saturday, July 30th at the Northview HS softball field (official times will be posted in the next day or so). We're in the Duluth/Johns Creek area and are looking for Travel baseball-ready players who are prepared to hustle, focus on the fundamentals and have fun playing the greatest game on Earth! By appointment, we can also arrange individual tryouts, if necessary.
The Jr. Titans team is a feeder program for Northview High School, so we hope to have 8 (of 12) of our roster spots filled with kids who are zoned for Northview, but we're open to players from anywhere as long as they're competitive at the high AA through AAA Travel level.
My name is Rob Lowenthal and I'm honored to serve as head coach for 2012. I played competitive baseball through high school and have 20 years of experience in coaching at the rec, All-Star and Travel levels. My commitment to Jr. Titan families is that my coaching staff and I will do everything possible to develop your players and improve their skills while teaching the importance of teamwork, hustle, accountability and a love for the game. It is ALWAYS about the team, and we pride ourselves on a strong family environment and sense of community.
My assistant coach, John Trautwein, pitched in professional baseball for seven years with the Expos and Red Sox. He also pitched at Northwestern University (where his catcher was Joe Girardi), and later served as their pitching coach in 1984-85. John also has 20+ years of youth baseball coaching experience, and brings a love and appreciation of the game and working with young players that is truly inspiring. John is also head coach of our 14U Jr. Titans squad. The rest of our coaching staff is similarly committed, and will work with all of our players to ensure we're fielding the best Jr. Titans team possible at each practice and game.
We plan to play 40-50 games in 2012, with indoor workouts beginning in January (giving players the opportunity to enjoy other sports during the fall and early winter). We also have use of Northview's varsity baseball indoor hitting/pitching facility, which is an added plus during colder months. Field practices begin in February, and we plan to conclude our season with a trip to either Cooperstown or the Ripken Experience (Myrtle Beach) in June/July of next year. Our schedule will be balanced between Lanier League games and tournaments (6-7), as well as local games with other Travel teams. EVERY member of our squad will bat in games, and will see playing time in each game.

| UPDATE: Tryouts are tentatively scheduled for this Saturday, 7/23, from 10:00a-12:00p at Northview High School's softball field. Please have your player come dressed for a baseball workout (uniform, cap, cleats, glove, bat, batting helmet). Please check back during the week for additional updates, and don't forget to send in an Interst Form via the Northview High School Baseball (Jr. Titans) web site. | We're all set for 12U tryouts on Saturday, 7/23, from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon at the Northview High School softball field. Park in the lot near the NVHS football field main entrance, go through the main gate, and bear left on the concrete path (behind the left side of the stadium bleachers). Continue on the path, bearing left, until you reach the softball field. Players will be in the third base dugout. Come dressed for competitive play with all equipment needed. We're very excited about our team and program for next season, and are looking to fill the four remaining roster spots soon.
