Pope Jr. Greyhounds will have tryouts for the 2011-2012 season on Mon 8/1 & Tues 8/2 @ 5:30-8:00pm. Rising 7th & 8th graders in the Pope school district should register online at www.PopeJrGreyhounds.com at the Tryouts page. A select number of out of district players will be considered for the team.
Alan NeSmith, founder and President of the North Georgia Feeder Baseball League (www.NorthGeorgiaFBL.com), will be returning as the Head Coach after leading the charter 2011 team to a winning season and the FBL championship game, finishing in 2nd place. If your player cannot attend tryouts on 8/1 or 8/2, please still register online but add a note about your schedule conflict in the Comments box at the end of the registration form. We will contact you to set up an individual evaluation with Coach NeSmith.

To answer some recurring parent questions:
- Tryouts are either Mon 8/1 or Tue 8/2; you will not have to attend both sessions.
- We play games on regulation high school field, often at the actual high schools; field dimensions are 60ft 6in to mound and 90ft between bases.
- Home games are played at Pope H.S. baseball field, not softball field.
- We will play league games and tournaments, heavy schedule in the spring and light schedule in the fall due to football, cross country, etc. |
