Can't believe what I witnessed this weekend. All three coaches ejected and team forced to forfeit. A very unfortunate occurrence. One, you don't get to question a balk call, and two, why didn't one of the other two coaches man up and set an example. Sad. |

The umpires have been very bad this season!!!!!!!!! More times than not fans pay hundreds of dollars each weekend to watch umpires control the outcome of most games! |

Will have to agree that umpiring this year just seems to get worse. Good umpires are becoming a dying breed. Cannot speak to the instance above, since I wasn't there. I have seen coaches get tossed for no reason 2x this year. |

There were worse calls in the game against our team. It doesn't matter how bad the call is, it isn't an excuse for the behavior. Fortunately our kids recognize stupid for what it is. |

In defense of the umpiring, and I can't represent them all because I only work out of 2 parks...and I myself have witnessed some really bad umpiring when my son plays and I am in the stands rooting for him and his team. 2-3, sometimes 10 times a game, the call is so close that you (the umpire) will get an argument either way. #1 Umpires are human too and #2 umpires are not fortunate enough to have slow motion replay and 7 different camera angles like the game of the week on ESPN. Also, most umpires, I believe, do not care who wins, and just want a smooth game with no arguments or disagreements whatsoever. That rarely happens for even the best umpires. Maybe good umpires are a dying breed because the good ones can call a perfect game and still try to be manipulated, abused and "shown up" by coaches that think coaching is manipulating, abusing and showing up umpires. One day when I finally decide to give it up (real soon), I want to yell at the coach, from behind the plate, how stupid he was for sending a runner to 3rd base, only to get gunned down for the first out of the inning, totally embarrassing him in front of the entire ballpark including his players and parents. What if I called time, walked over to the 3rd base coach and humiliated him in front of EVERYONE? Maybe including a "you suck"!!! and a "have you ever coached before"??? etc? Just a thought...If I did this, would the coach be justified for physically attacking me? Another thought, if I actually did this, would I only be suspended for the next game? Of course not. I think I just decided that this is how I'm gonna go out. I have a couple of coaches in mind. |

While I can see why you would want to do this when you hang em up...Just walk away and keep your personal reputation untarnished and be one of those umps that coaches and fans say, "Man, Remember David, I wished we had him calling our games still!" No need to make it more tough on those following behind you, but instead set an example. |

Why lower yourself? Go out with complete class. Rather than make a caboose of yourself, how about staying completely above board and entertain every argument any of the coaches have during your last tournament. Let them have their say, looking at them calmly and respectfully each time, and after they are done, don't even dignify their arguments with a response. Simply walk back to the plate (or field position) dust it off and play ball.
As much as we complain about the umpires making bad calls, I think one thing we can all agree upon (not that you'll ever get everyone on this forum to agree upon one thing) is the worst umpires out there are the ones that take the field looking for attention and wanting to make the game about them. Don't be that guy.... |

In the know, I agree with you 100%. I don't like umpires or coaches that think that they are the show. I seriously doubt that anyone at the park came there to watch the umpires/coaches. |
