Aside from the TC tourney, which took 30+ teams, there are really only two other 10U tournaments being played this weekend. Is anyone playing anywhere else besides TC, or the two USSSA events? I haven't really seen any Nations tournaments this spring at all. I thought they would have a little more prominent this year.

And yes, that should read "BE a little more prominent", so just hush.

Looks like some teams will drive further even with gas prices to chase those UTRIP points (and have a better shot of taking it down) instead of staying closer to home and playing with a better field of teams.

Some teams cannot afford to play in $500 tournaments every weekend, especially when there are other good ones for $300-$375.

Good point, ask your 10-12 families how much they spent on gas going back and forth and other items far from home and I'll bet it slants the other way for most teams.

Which begs the question, why does TC feel the need to charge $500-$600 for the majority of their tournaments? Especially since they usually draw enough teams to make a TON of money, even if the fees were more in the $300-$400 range. If they're gonna charge that much, they should at least develop a decent point/power rating system and website for tracking statistics. Even Nations and BPA have a point system and track wins and losses etc.

They can charge what they charge because people are willing to pay it. They have 100+ teams show up each weekend so they must be doing something right. I do agree they should have a points system leading up to a national championship, if they did this along with a tracking website they would take over quickly. Their year end will gain merit across the country with this type of system in place. UTRIP does so well because they keep people informed on where they stand with other like teams across the country, not because they put on well run, good venue tournaments. Now if we could merge the two we would have something.

What TC is doing right is holding tournaments in the "heart" of travel baseball. Cobb, Forsyth, Cherokee, etc. teams get to play in their back yard and they don't mind paying a little more to do so. Its easy to pick a TC event because you know they will be close and they will make. I can see where they'd be less desirable on a consistent basis for teams further out because of cost. TC runs good events but they're not leaps and bounds above others.

Baseballrus - inaddition to location what they do well and what I and most look for is field conditions and their time limit is longer than most and closer to real baseball. Nothing worse than one bad 1/2 inning and no time to recover, plus some of the cow fields other orgs put you on are terrible.

As a newbie TC parent I thought they ran things ok, online updates were mostly speedy, but not always.
Other than 'because they can' I don't see added value you would expect for paying the extra mula.
My one major complaint, correct me If I am misinformed, is the lame reward for winning.
I'm not saying trophy sprawl in boys room is not an issue but the cheapO baseball reward was weak in contrast to the 5 benjamins plopped down to play.
Jr has received much nicer awards after playing in 'low rent' tourneys.
