Gold - The Longhorns played the 16th and 30th ranked teams. If they are going to win this one, they've got play 4 games against some of the best 10U programs. Their side of the bracket includes North Cobb-OP, Atlanta Blue Jays and Mill Creek. I would favor this side of the bracket. The other side has some strong teams in 643, Ringold, Savannah, signature Park and Wills. Don't count any of the teams or upsets by others not mentioned.

Moonshot, I hope it has just been a long day...But, I sure hope no one is saying the longhorns chose their pool games or stop running bases to early against their competition.
Bubasdad, Why are the longhorns not the favorite? What did they do wrong?
Keep playing and having fun Horns.
Love watching you play!!!!! You are the team to beat!!!!!!! |

The Longhorns did nothing wrong. North Cobb is just better. |

Yes the Longhorns are the team to beat. They nor the TD did anything wrong. Just pointing out the facts on the seeds. The Longhorn vs. NC Warrirors should be a great game. |

Longhorns and Wills Park played great all weekend. The Longhorns handled North Cobb 11-2 in the quarters and Will Park run ruled 643 13-3 in semi's. Longhorns won the ship over Wills 6-2. Both teams were very impressive, congrats to the Horns for taking down a field that was deep with land mines. |

yes, that is correct. not that they blew everybody away, but definately handled every team they faced. i hope it doesn't discourage them from playing more 10u, it seemed like some of the good teams didn't bring their "A" game this weekend. |

What a great day of youth Baseball. Congratulations Longhorns! Also Congratulations to the runner-ups, Wills Park. Just like last year, it looks like those guys are poised to make another late-season run.

Hoser, I just talked to someone who was at tournament. He said Lognhorns run ruled everyone accept Blue jays and Wills park...Sounds to me like they took care of business!!!!
Did I get bad info?

itsbaseballtime- no, sounds like you got the same info that i gave! i said that they didn't blow everyone away, but handled every team that they faced (wills park and jays). i guess my reply didn't sound the way it was meant, but I wasn't taking anything away from the longhorns, clearly they took care of business! i was just stating that i hope the tourny didn't discourage them from playing more 10u. the only reason i would say that is that i was concerned that they may not be pleased with the competition they faced. |

North Cobb may have fared well against common opponents but they need to beat the Longhorns before anyone says they are better. Haven't done that this year or last. |

The big difference is the pitching. The Longhorns have a depth of dominant pitchers that no one can match at this age. Many of the other good teams have 1,2 or even 3 dominant pitchers. The Longhorns have several. |

Agree w/ baseballready...North Cobb is good, but hasn't stepped up to beat the Horns. They had a chance at 643 tournament but gave it away on errors. More in- out-field errors yesterday and Horns' pitching dominated. |

There has been several references to the dominating performance by the Longhorn's pitching staff, so I wanted to see if there was proof in the numbers. Because there is no universal scorebook used in any of our tournaments the only statistic that makes sense in evaluating a team pitching performance is runs allowed. Mariettabaseball you are correct, the 10u Longhorns did dominate the tournament allowing only 2.8 runs per game.
Runs Allowed:
10u Longhorns = 2.8 Wills Park = 4.2 Atlanta Blue Jays = 4.4 Coal Moutain Storm = 4.6 North Cobb Warrior = 5.5 6-4-3 = 6.8 Mill Creek = 7.3 East Cobb Titans = 8
Interesting note: Wills Park had the second lowest runs per game allowed by a pitching staff. |

As a head coach in this tournament, I would like to say how much we enjoyed playing in our first Triple Crown Tournament. It allowed us to learn where we need to be for 11 majors next year and as a AAA team it helped us evaluate where we go from here. Hats off to all the teams for a great weekend of baseball. I would like to add how much we enjoyed the sportsmanhip that the 643 Cougars had on the field in our pool game and the professionalism thier coaches showed during our game. Even though we did not have quite enough to give them a real hard challenge, they showed alot of class. Great job to all. Now on to Alabama AAA Super NIT. Thanks! 10UAAA West GA Lightning |
