There is interest to form an Elite 13u travel team made up of players from Gwinnett county and it's surrounding counties for the 2012 travel season.
Our vision would be offer professional instruction and coaching for the team and compete at whatever level we felt the team would be challenged. We feel like there are enough talented players in this area to compete at the Major or Elite Major level but that will depend on who commits to the team. Our main goal of this team is to prepare the participating 7th and 8th graders for the next step which would be high school. We would also make efforts to have the team fully funded if possible with the support of Gwinnett county business contributions.
Right now, we are trying to gauge interest level from any families that would be interested in participating in such a team. If your son lives in or near Gwinnett county and would like to hear more about the possibility of playing for such a team, please send an email to teamgwinnett@yahoo.com
Outlaw, that is exactly what we are hoping to accomplish. Currently, Gwinnett County schools do not offer middle school baseball programs. Some of the parks have feeder teams that are unofficially affiliated with the high school programs though. Unfortunately, those loosely tied feeder teams are not professionally coached. Our team will be with the main focus being to prepare these players for JV and Varsity participation at their respective high schools.
