I noticed it in out pool as well. However, in our case, I think it was done for the convenience of the teams. At 8:00am Team 1 plays Team 2 and Team 3 plays outside the pool. At 10:30am, Team 1 plays Team 3 and Team 3 plays outside the pool. Think of it as a pool of 6 teams where you still only play 2 games.
This, of course, doesn't matter as much for teams playing a Friday and Saturday pool game. However, it makes it "fair" for all 6 teams in our set of 2 pool. Everybody has to be at the fields at 7:00am, everybody plays a back-to-back DH, everybody is just as rested or tired as their opponent for their second game. |
