I am not sure about many of you, but I think there are many teams out there that are heading to Cooperstown. I also know there are many teams out there that are not going but have players that would love to go. It is just that for a lot of teams they have made other end of the season arrangements.

Maybe we could have a post of parents that would like to put their name in the hat for a team looking to pick up a player or two for the trip. As I understand it, teams will pick up players to go and help out and if we had a one stop shop for players interested, this would give coaches a chance to see who is available. It is a huge financial committment and not everybody can just pick up at the last minute and decide to go.

I have not been to Cooperstown and have no idea how it works, but I have heard of a lot of families interested in going that are on teams that either do not have a berth or are on teams not going for various reasons.
Any thoughts?

Great Idea Hawk.
My son's team is not going and we have already made arrangements for him to go with a team he played with in the fall.
I have seen posts from parents who thought their kid's teams were going and for some reason have found out that they were not.
From everything I hear Cooperstown is an experience that stays with the kids for a lifetime. It would be a shame for any kid to miss the oportunity.

Start a forum up. My team is not going to cooperstown but would like for my son to go. If another team needed help with coaching I would be interested too.

I had messed around with the idea of forming a team from the "left overs" and seeing if we could take it there. I bet there are plenty of very capable players willing to play on a Cooperstown bound only team. I have probably 3-4 on my team that would consider it. I am not sure how late in the game we would be. There is always a good possibility for a Georgia/Florida combination team to head to Cooperstown. Maybe a July tournament for a select group. Let the boys get together and have fun in a different surrounding. If I were doing it, we could have a Cooperstown tryout one or two weekends for players to come and tryout. Just a thought at this point. Maybe one in Atlanta area and one on the border. I am always up for a trip to PC...:-)

All,

My team, Kings Baseball, will be attending Cooperstown Dreams Park the week of July 23-29. This is induction week for the baseball hall of fame and we are currently looking for 3 additional players to go with us. We are interested in players who are pitchers as well as have an above average bat. If you are interested please contact me Russ Stephens at 678-300-4881 or russ_stephens@windstream.net. I look foward to talking with you about this great opportunity for your 12 year old.

Thanks PCbaseball. I figured we may be a little behind. If we decided to do it, that would eliminate a lot of our possible players due to football and oh yes....school...:-)

My son's team will not be going to Cooperstown. Any team needing a legit catcher, high AAA/major caliber player for Cooperstown Dreams Park please let us know. Prefer to go in June/early July if possible.

My son is also playing for a non-Cooperstown bound team but would like to find a way to go. 5'10 (and growing rapidly, lol), good power bat, plays RF/LF/1B/3B. Has not pitched a ton in games, but has been getting pitching instruction since last season, and has an above average fastball and good offspeed pitch. Also catches occasionally, where he's thoroughly mediocre right now except for the good arm, but he's going to be getting instruction there as well with the goal of being an asset as a backup, at least, behind the plate. Willing to practice/play as much as necessary with a new team as long as it doesn't get in the way of his commitment to his current team. Contact me at bball@pushfold.com.
