Everyone knows the powerhouse teams. Any idea as to the teams that could surprise everyone? There are so many new teams that surely one or two of them will play at a consistantly high level. Anyone?

I think there will be plenty of upsets this year. Once you get past Longhorns, Yankees, and Yard Dogs, the other teams in the major division will have some back and forth wins and losses and should be very competitive. In order to beat the top 3or 4 teams in a tournament, we can only hope that we can save enough pitching without getting eliminated. Teams to watch (Home Plate, Mill Creek, Georgia Blues, ECB navigators under new name, others?) Sure I missed some but I really think all the major teams and the top AAA teams have the potential for upsets.

Anyone seen or heard about the Valdosta Team?

There are definitely a lot of new teams for 10u. Here are some completely random observations:

* 643DP made a lot of changes in the off season. Perhaps they could make the jump from AAA to Major.
* Wills Park came on strong at the end of last season and should be right on the AAA / Major fence.
* ECB Mudcats are made up of kids from Shaw Park, 643DP, Kennesaw and have solid coaching. They should certainly score some runs....
* Mill Creek is not talked about very often in Cobb County, but these kids can play. I hope they enter some more tournaments against the Cobb County teams. Saw them at TC State last year and was impressed.
* I dont know the makeup of the Cobb Angels team, but they did some positive things at the Fall OP tournament. Coaching was excellent.

Overall, I dont think you are going to see many surprises at the Major level. There should be some new teams in the AAA / AA level that make some noise as 1st year teams. Teams made up of mostly 1st year travel ball players will struggle early on until they adapt to the game.

I'm not sure about the Georgia Blues they lost 2 of their key pitchers. One went to East Cobb and one went to Elite.

I have to agree with Centerfeild on Wills Park, a lot of good ballplayers that gained confidence as the year went on.

I didn't seem them much last year but I did see them in the Fall, the Acworth team is solid as well. I hope they play in more local tournament this season.

We lost two players and added one who also pitches. We should have a solid team, very similar to last year. We have more of a small town family oriented team with very little turnover and no recruiting. Not that I am against recruiting, just not when coaches actively seek them when they are already committed. Neither of these two players that left were recruited away from the Blues.
