My son has played at ECB for 2 seasons now but hasn't ever attended the tryouts until this weekend so I'm wondering how the team offers usually work. I've already been contacted by one team so my question is how long after tryouts should I be expecting offers to come in because my son was being talked to by several coaches including the Titans and since it's only Monday I certainly don't want to commit to anything until we know what's out there.
Thanks |

Congratulations on being contacted. You should be hereing from everyone that is interested no later than Wednesday, but could get some as late as the weekend. If by then you haven't been contacted, or a solid offer made, time to look elsewhere. You should always try to hit as many work outs as possible to see what all programs have to offer and see different coaches. You may find someone you click with out side of ECB. They are many great coaches and programs. Always beware of those that offer the world; we have great individual training, we have organized work outs, etc. |

Seems to me that after paying an exorbitant tryout fee and giving several hours of time, a player should be extended the courtesy of a telephone call regarding the outcome of his efforts. Coaches, what is your protocol for post-tryout follow-up -- don't call us, we'll call you? posting the roster? or, fancy this -- calling a player to thank him and give him some feedback on how to improve if he did not make the team? |

I don't think the draft has occurred for the 14U division, so I would say there is still a lot of decision making going on. I know i the draft, if a kid is not selected for an EC team, Guerry wants to know specifically why because he wants to answer that very question when a parent calls. |

It appears it's a we'll call you and if we don't then better luck next year. My son got a few offers but didn't get "the call" from his number 1 choice. Apparently, the Astros will tell you on Sunday face to face, everyone else calls pretty quick and don't read anything into a coach talking to your kid a lot because my son was practically interviewed by one coach (his first choice team) several times but didn't get an offer.
Oh well, he's found a good situation with his number 2 choice. Gotta love that ECB all or nothing mentality. |

Fbdad,
Um, no. There were about 100 boys at the morning tryouts and only maybe 7-8 teams looking for players (based on the number of coaches at tryouts). Probably about the same number of players for the afternoon too. So realistically, not counting the boys who were already on teams, about 100-120 players looking for a spot on an ECB team. Most likely out of all the ones looking maybe 20 so got offers and the rest are having to look elsewhere. |

Apparently the "draft" has not occurred as of this past Sunday (8/22) because my son was still getting offers from other ECB teams as late as Sunday evening and they all started with, "Have you made commitment yet?" indicating no one has reported who's on who's team. |
