Bat manufacturers are still offering BPF 1.15 rated 2019 model bats. I thought everything was going to USA-spec this year. I don’t see anything on TC’s site that indicates when they will adopt the new standard but have heard PG and USSSA are USA-only now.
Would be good to know do we stand for each tournament affiliate.
Can someone please summarize bat rules and forward plans by tournament organization?
USSSA is certainly not going to USA bats, neither is Triple Crown. Word is Lakepoint is going to go back to USSSA 1.15 as well. Most travel ball tournaments use the 1.15 USSSA standard.
Travel ball tournaments will use the USSSA bat standard because that is what travel ball players and parents prefer. If they enforce the USABat standard they will lose out on teams whenever they have a similar choice that allows USSSA bat certification. We played in one Perfect Game tournament last spring and we vowed to never do it again due to the bat requirement. I am sure others had a similar experience which is why PG is changing back.
A number of local rec leagues decided to wait one year to enforce the USABat standard. There is talk that they will not require it this upcoming season either due to the complaints about the new standard.
It's too bad everyone is down on the USA bats. We hit with them all year in the cages and I think it helped kids hit the ball better. It forces them to square it up. Kids hitting bombs off their front foot with some of these swings using a loaded DeMarini bat is not realistic. We played in a USA tournament and kids were hitting the ball fine.
I agree with PVPanthers, especially by 12 years old go to USA if we're not making them use BBCOR yet, especially high level teams and classifications. And no -10 while we're at it...
