Stealth, Eastside, and West Cobb go 2-0 on Sunday. Still plenty of baseball left to play but they in the drivers seat.
GAP had a walkoff in extra innings to seal their fate, but still eyeing the best 1-loss spot with solid pitching.
Watch for T24 and Kachi and TN Nationals to all make noise in brackets. |

GAP should coast to the semis in this week. No brainer. A top 5 team in GA should always be in the semis up there- every week. |

I've been watching some of the games and I'm surprised with how many balls are going out. I know it's 200' fence, but I see balls being launched even with awkward swings or half swings. Someone reminded me that there are no bat rules in CDP. Are juiced/rolled/shaved bats the norm? My initial reaction with using juiced bats is negative. However, the more I think about it, (1) it is legal; (2) I read an article about the founder of CDP where he emphasized kids having fun and hitting as much home runs as possible (hence the 200' fence). So maybe having juiced bats is actually in keeping with the spirit of CDP? |

It's a joke of a tourney. As bad as LL on tv. 12's on 200 foot fences with hacked bats. A joke. Should be wood. Or 275' fences. REAL baseball. |

What makes 275’ fences “REAL baseball”? Why not 300’? Or 250’?
God forbid kids who might not normally hit homeruns in “REAL baseball” games hit some in these fake games. It’s not like both teams are playing under the same conditions on the same field. And, we know that nobody would ever dare bring a juiced bat to a “REAL baseball” tournament.
I mean, if we can’t determine who the “BEST REAL baseball players/teams” are at 12u based on one completely arbitrary and random tournament that doesn’t include every 12u team in country, why play? I wish there were other tournaments held at some time during a child’s life where these poor kids could play “REAL baseball” instead of this debasement of the game. I hope somebody figures this out soon. Abner Doubleday must be rolling in his grave.
We all know the Northside Norwhals are the best team anyway so, really, there shouldn’t be any reason to play any games whatsoever. |

You are right. We should make 12 year olds travel from all over the country to use wood bats, put a big pinch of red man in their cheeks, pop some adderall, maybe some HGH, put the fences at 400, put managers in full uniform. You know, real baseball.
Cooperstown is not mandatory but it is, in large part, a capstone on child's youth baseball experience. Just see the forest for the trees and accept what it is.

Ok. Maybe I was over the top... but to my defense, who actually celebrates 12U 200’ hacked bat homeruns? I mean, come on. Let’s be honest.... Every played at ECB? Field 7 or 8? Those are 200’. 10U’s hitting them out there. Not much of an accomplishment.
Kudos to GA teams this week. A couple of plays or a pitch here or there and maybe 2 teams would have made it to Thursday.
At least the SE is represented well in the final.
On to week 3.... |

My sons week a few years ago a bat cap actually came off and several rubber balls rolled out. The bat was seized, but that's about all that happened. Cooperstown isn't really about REAL baseball it is about 12 year old FUN baseball. None of these stats mean anything, but My Junior in high school son still talks about "Remember in Cooperstown when ___"...The experience is priceless folks!
As for "who actually celebrates 12U 200’ hacked bat homeruns?"...I believe EVERY child that hits one, and probably their parents too. If it's "not much of an accomplishment, then why can't EVERY kid do it?
Enjoy the little things guys, quit thinking "Big Picture' at age 12! |

I see small kids hitting it out with doctored bats all the time. No way to tell if a bat is rolled, but if a kid weighing 110 pounds is cranking them over 250, you’re gonna be suspicious. No idea how easy it is to shave a bat but the only way to tell it’s been shaved is by taking it apart. It would be nice if everybody played by the rules but when I see kids like I saw this weekend at Cooperstown saying they’re 12 but they have a full goatee, they ain’t playing by the rules, so I’m cool with the smaller kids using what we the HECK bat they wanna use there.
And Cooperstown is a total blast. Real baseball or whatever, my kids have both been now and those memories created there are gonna stay with them forever. From the games to the barracks and hanging out with their pals. Games can turn on a dime given the shorter fields....no other tourney like it if ya ask me. The “real” baseball is coming. They’re 12. Even the teams that went 0-6 in pool play had smiles on their faces. We had a conversation with a kid at the airport today asking how they did and he just smiled and shook his head and says, “wellll. we struggled, but i had an awesome trip.” That says it all.

I say we put the Dad's and Mom's (to be fair) that are saying it isn't an accomplishment for a 12u to hit a homerun on the 200' fields and see if they can hit one out. I would bet maybe, maybe 1 out of 10 if they didn't run out of breath before 10 swings. Let the kids enjoy the game and find something else to screw up. |
