Posted - 03/30/2014 : 21:34:20 What is wrong with many of the parents and not just locally but nationally and not baseball specific. Is they pay a pretty penny to a program or coaches and if success does not immediately follow they get upset and some get tossed.
I heard about the CBC toss from the ump who I know and trust and it was justified.
Either way our kids and in my case grand kids will play their last game one day Just as my son did. My advice is Get ready for it and get them ready for it. Most will stop after HS if at all. You know by now of they have it. Just enjoy these precious moments and for those shown the parking lot: Get a Grip! |

Posted - 03/28/2014 : 09:36:11 I am impressed with our coaches and how they have handled the inverted perfect record at the tournament. For those that know or remember me I have been outspoken about past coaches and/or coach. It seems as the age increases the coaching gets better. Our staff has been stern with the players and with my boy. My son played well but made a few mistakes. The coach with knowledge in his position called my son had him come early to work on things. Each piece of the puzzle will get better and it is up to them to mesh. Thank you coaches as it takes village to raise a baseball player and more important: A young man! |

We went 0-3 bit my young man had fun and said he is going to work harder. That is the epitome of what the game teaches. I enjoyed it anyways and he played better than last year so improving. It was nice to see most parents again, the weather was perfect and so was our record!

We keep being called the team with less attractive kids....if you ask me we are the kids that keep putting it on these over priced teams! We have a record of 10-2 against the cbc teams and 7-2 against the warriors over the past year and a half. Who are the less attractive kids again? Also, we are not scrappy! We can play the game of baseball! Good talent and good coaching equals a good team! These kids really know how to sacrifice. Not mad, just saying....
I have seen cases where kids are less attractive due to the adults actions. Although my grandchildren both were lower tier 'less attractive' skill wise and by this age hardwork beat out the politics. Proud of their work ethic.
Hey captain ron, it's been a while. Hope all is well!! I think your right about the parents. We have some of the best talent around jax. And st. Augustine. Also another comment that got me was the one on the cbc parents enjoying the nice weather and ball game and our parents jumping on the umpires. If my memory serves me correct, a cbc mom and dad got kicked out of our game against the riverhawks cause of the crying and oh yeah potty mouths that were going on. What a joke!!

Spoke to Mr. Piña today in the feedback phase of the internship. While he would not reveal his sources as any good journalist wouldn’t he stated that it was in a conversation with parents and chatter in the stands as victory went their way. |

Yankee7, "From discussions with parents the PBA team is a group of kids that were considered less attractive to the bigger higher profile programs in the area. They have continued to focus and scrappily work towards competing with these teams and have done so successfully since last year. Great work boys keep up the hard work". I think this comment was meant to be a compliment. Any higher profile team would gladly take some of your talent off your hands. Are you guys playing this weekend?
thanks bld dad, nice to see you this weekend. What a game huh? That was a true gritty baseball game. No, we are taking this weekend off. We are playing rivertown in 2 weeks, than triple crown and then savannah triple crown 2 weeks after that. We will see each other again I am sure!! Good luck guys!! |

Posted - 03/23/2014 : 18:54:45 The Championship Prospects Baseball brings home a Myrtle Beach Berth by the hair of their 'chinny-chin-chin over Jacksonville Warriors 2 to 1
Two evenly matched teams ended in a pitching duel with opportunities lost on both sides and runners left in scoring position.
Coaching edge goes to the Prospects as they seem more organized with a leader at the top. There were times when the Warriors coaches seemed confused and by the time they discussed the moment/opportunity was gone.
The Warriors should hold their heads high as they had chances to take this game. It is early in the spring and once the rust is knocked off these two solid teams and all the teams in the tourney will be forces to be dealt with regionally if not nationally.
From discussions with parents the PBA team is a group of kids that were considered less attractive to the bigger higher profile programs in the area. They have continued to focus and scrappily work towards competing with these teams and have done so successfully since last year. Great work boys keep up the hard work!!!!!!!
Positives: Defense of PBA and Warriors; Pitching Dominance; Warriors 3rd Baseman; PBA 1st Baseman; Warriors Centerfielder
Needs Work/Drills: Middle infield leadership, calmness and range of both SSs; Warriors need more tools from first baseman

Posted - 03/23/2014 : 17:00:54 Semifinal Bracket Play 1:10 PM Approx. First Pitch: PBA lucky to win over the CBC Mudcats 11 to 10
They say never to bet against the house. Well PBA is lucky to win this one as they really need to address their middle infield with players with more range and leadership factors. This will bite them against better completion. Much of the pitching burden was on #15 for PBA but he was tired from his innings the previous day. This player is outstanding on the mound. Coaches / Parents watch these boys with talent and mind their arms with consecutive days.
Both teams seemed to be in need of quality pitching depth and thus the higher score as errors were at a minimum. Surprising for a two game pool format. I can offer my little brother for a weekend who plays in same age group as he would love to come and see me and I him.
From what was communicated to me was that the Mudcats are considered the second tier team at CBC but do not tell them that. My perspective as a player is that this team is coached well with tremendous upside and HS/College talent at the plate and in the field. CBC parents were nice and enjoying the weather. The PBA crowd was enthusiastic to say the least and loved to talk to the ump if you know what I mean? All was in good fun as the young men put on a show I am not soon to forget.

Semifinal Bracket Play 2:00 PM First Pitch: Jacksonville Warriors – White squeaks one out over West Florida Elite 8 to 7
Solid pitching on both sides while West Florida had close to maxed out a few of their pitchers and did not chance injury. Both squads were evenly matched teams that figured out the pitching conundrum against excellent pitching. Warriors solid arm #12 seemed a bit off from the previous day but only slightly. #23 was on fire and throwing gas and outstanding breaking balls. Either team could have one this and was tremendous to watch.

Posted - 03/23/2014 : 10:48:44 Bracket Play 8:30 AM First Pitch: NF Young Guns fall to the CBC Mudcats in a battle of the bats 7 to 9
The early wake up call for the Mudcats did not phase them. The coaches had them focused and hungry. The Guns arms did not seem as sharp as the staff yesterday. There as a small amount of sloppy play on both sides of the ball with a few mental mistakes. One of which may have cost the Young Guns the game.

Bracket Play 9:00 AM First Pitch: Jacksonville Warriors – White pitcher puts the CBC Riverhawks bats on Blast 9 to 1
We will just let the title speak for itself. The Hawks big bats did not deliver and team speed hurt them. However, nobody was stopping that pitcher!

Posted - 03/23/2014 : 10:17:30 Apologies for the delay but we met up with the parents of the Central Florida Wolverines out of Groveland, FL. Great times had by all. Hope to see you all at the Journey to the Stars!
11:30 AM First Pitch: Prospects Baseball Academy sneak past Ponte Vedra Thunder – Blue with timely hitting and off speed Pitching 5 to 2
This game was a tight one until the PBA broke out and cruised to victory. The key was the pitching on the part of the PBA. #15 had the bats of PVT-Blue off balance with his delivery that hides the ball well and a nasty change up. The Thunder had opportunity but did not capitalize and errors and poor situational decision-making came back to haunt them.
I was told that the PVB-B team is a travel team with kids from some 60 miles away and that practices as a team are difficult. Team seemed like they need more time together and could be a strong force with the talent we saw on the field.

2:00 PM First Pitch: NF Young Guns school the Jacksonville Warriors – White on scrappy team play Baseball by closing the hitting clinic down 2 to 0
The team from High Springs played as a team and was nothing short of scrappy in all phases of the game. #11 was stellar as the pitcher for the Young Guns and their coaches changed pitching at the right time. The Warriors starter pitched a gem but tired due to deep at bats by the disciplined Guns players. Location was an issue for the Warriors arms today. The Young Guns impressed in the field as well with strong communication and leadership especially from the SS and Catcher.

Tremendous pitching from the seasoned Warrior stable and #12 is an absolute stud and destined for big things in the future. The Warriors bats were tepid but did enough to put it in cruise control. If this is their inning eater staff I am scared to see their Bracket round pitching staff. The Mudcats coach coached till the end and was very impressive. The Mudcats never gave up and many felt that if it went another inning the comeback may have occurred.

Posted - 03/22/2014 : 12:34:26 9:00 AM First Pitch: Prospects Baseball Academy uses power and diversity to power past the CBC Riverhawks 7 to 3
The PBA used a pitching by committee strategy at just the right moments to keep the bats of the Hawks stuck in winter cold. The Hawks had their chances but the larger power hitters seemed to clog the base paths slightly. Very talented squad on both sides and the coaching was outstanding.
