here is one I have not heard before. Ump says "I didn't see it" on a play at the plate, so the runner from third is deemed safe. This was a wild pitch that bounced on the front of the plate, and hit the ump in the back of the hand.
My kid swung at the pitch and took off for first. Runner on third came home and the catcher went after him instead of throwing to first. The ump had turned away from the play and never saw it. He did confide in the other ump and basically said he could not call him out if he did not see the out made; makes sense to me even though runner was out.

It just got real ugly after that and became an embarrassing moment.........trying to clarify for the coaches that "Lost it"

I have the whole thing on HUDL so it was kind of cool to review it in slow mo.
Could I have given them the video for replay?

Ultimately our job as umpires is to try to get the call right. With that being said, I would have consulted with my partner on the play and went with whatever he had, but only if I didn't see the play at all. Umpires take physical abuse from wild pitches, unskilled or lazy catchers and just bad luck more so than the harmless comments from the parents and that is just part of the game. Video footage of the game should never be used as it would open up a can of worms on other plays. The 2 man umpire system isn't the best, but when done properly, it rarely cost a team the game.

I follow you nation............he did consult and I didn't share or invite the video at all.
