Posted - 05/21/2012 : 17:22:28 Or does anyone else get indigestion at all the sunflower seed gunk everywhere?? Where did this start in baseball?? All the jocks that can't chew tobacco anymore? Coaches that can't smoke and the kids pick it up? Walked by a dugout this weekend that was a covered in wet sunflower seed remains... gross... gross... and then to have to wipe them off seats when you want to sit in the bleachers is even grosser!! Clean up your OWN MESS!!!
Okay - tirade over... anyone else feel this way??? |

Posted - 06/16/2012 : 11:34:27 Seeds = Baseball. My hubby even has his seeds when we are watching the game but he uses a cup and he dumps seeds/ shells in the trash on the way out of the park. However, I grew up at the park...Seeds are everywhere...kinda makes it feel more baseball. We have seeds every game, so do most of our players. |

Posted - 05/23/2012 : 16:31:29 Man cave - Ha! Ha!! Yup - that's why I just kept on walking. It's the spittin, scratchin, smellin, fartin "man" only area and they like it that way!! And never, ever walk on the field unless it's to take the picture at the end of the championships for the website.
BUT the stands are another matter... clean up after yourself. And Chris, if you lift up the seat (and put it back down) it don't matter... |

Posted - 05/22/2012 : 15:53:34 There is a reason that the dugout is "no Mom zone". Let them have their little man cave. And for pity's sake, don't go in the dugout to put a hooded winter coat on your 13 year old son and dOnt stop the game bc he slid head first into third and "might" have gotten dirt in his eyes. Stuff like this makes me want to sit in chewed up and spit out shells. |

Notice - boys - my complaint was having to wipe the sunflower seeds off the bleachers - where I sit. No place this weekend that wasn't covered in shells - which have been spit out. Had to find a paper towel to wipe off the seats because these were freshly spit and WET seeds. YUK! At least when you leave make sure your spit covered shells are cleaned off where I - and others - will have to sit.
BTW - I walked right by the dugout and shuddered. I did not give into the temptation to find a broom and sweep the darn thing out. I also do not wash baseball hats. But the shells on the seats is just gross...
Excoach12 - love the infield dirt magic... not messing with that AT ALL.... (just clean my seats!!)
Okay Mom I will give you that...that is pretty nasty and inconsiderate... sortof like peeing on the toliet seat, Fellas we must improve our aim. |

Posted - 05/22/2012 : 13:22:10 So you would prefer chewed gum stuck to everything?
Look. Infield dirt is magic, everyone knows that. That's why you rub it on anything that hurts and the pain goes away. And we all know the formula for magic infield dirt: Dirt, sweat, spit, small fibers torn from pants while sliding, crushed up dried flakes of little boy skin, greasy strands of young boy hair and GROUND UP SUNFLOWER SEED SHELLS. Don't go messing with the formula for magic infield dirt! |

OK, this is where we have to draw the line Moms.
If you don't like the shells on the ground, stay home. It's baseball, it's a boy's game and boys will be boys.
Yell at us when we track mud in the house. Yell at us when we leave dirty baseball pants on the floor. Yell at us when we leave our socks inside out.
But leave the sunflower seeds the hell alone!!!!

Posted - 05/22/2012 : 11:35:14 I'm with Newbie....I'll take seeds anyday of the week over dip! And the real bonus is ....seeds don't cause head and neck cancer! |

Posted - 05/22/2012 : 08:52:18 I won't say I like all that spitting of sunflower seeds (or spitting generally, yuck) but I vastly prefer that to dipping. That has got to be the most disgusting habit next to picking your nose. So, if sunflower seeds replace chew, I'll live with it. |
