Posted - 03/07/2023 : 18:25:18 I’m not sure how many people still monitor this discussion group, but I’ve got a question for those that have had sons play at the HS age group.
We didn’t aggressively look for a summer team last July due to inexperience with the tryout process/“season” and other HS activities that conflicted with both tryouts and the fall season. He’s now playing alternative HS ball and wants to find a team for the summer.
When do summer teams start looking to fill open slots? I’m not seeing a lot of postings, so what is the best way to learn about team openings? I’ve seen a small number of open positions posted, but most are nowhere near our location in East Cobb/Sandy Springs area.
Thanks in advance for any advice! |

Are you on Facebook? There are a bunch of groups on there for travel ball in Georgia that teams use to post tryout information. |

Posted - 03/09/2023 : 14:16:25 Thanks. Yes, my son plays for one of the ECB HS teams so we are up there all the time. Not a lot of freshman (15u) on these teams but good idea to ask the teams’ parents.
Thanks! |

Posted - 03/08/2023 : 11:29:50 In years past, this site was the place to go to find your next team, but activity has unfortunately slowed. Given your location, I would simply go to East Cobb Complex one evening and check out several of the ECB Academy games. Just about all the teams (and coaches) in this league have summer teams. This way you can gauge the approximate level of play of the various organizations. You can speak with parents and just gather all sorts of helpful information. Most summer rosters are being constructed, so this is a perfect time to take the initiative. |
