bout time for a new topic...

As our boys get closer to high school, I would love to know your thoughts on 8th graders playing 13u vs 14u. Many boys have been playing where their birthday falls and now they are in 8th grade playing on 54/80 bases. On the same token many kids are "playing up" to play with their grade that should be in 12u.

If there are certain circumstances then I understand but many of the top teams are filled with kids in older grades. While most 13u is 7th grade, many are in 8th.

So I guess the question is if you are good enough to be on the top teams in the grade below you, should you play up in your grade? Will it hurt them next year going to your freshman year, or if you are good enough it doesn't matter? Lastly, will it help or hurt you when you are a junior etc playing on travel teams below your grade???

I would be interested in hearing peoples thoughts and parents of kids who are older with late birthday's who did one or the other.
