In another post concerning umpires in general it was suggested that most umpiring organizations have a way to submit umpiring complaints. Can the TD of Southern Baseball share with us the name of the umpiring group that umpired this weekend's tournament at Heritage Park and the correct way to submit a written complaint. Most of umpiring was great but the 12U championship game had some issues that I would like to address. Could you please either email me direct or post the name of the umpiring group you are using.

Any umpire wearing GHSA patches on the field during a game that is not a high school game is clueless to start. Here are a couple of things to look for in good umpires.

1. polished shoes and a clean uniform
2. only 1 minute or 5 pitches between innings
3. they always let the coach speak first and listen on a questionable call.
4. they hustle

About 10% of the umpires are out there for the wrong reasons I would give that same number for the coaches.

OK Papa....Here is what happened....We put the best umpires we had on the field yall would be playing on, not knowing that they would have to leave before the championship game. SO we went to the umpire group off the other field WHICH we assumed would do a good job since they had both days. The umpire you are talking about is a GHSA umpire so again we ASSUMED he would do fine. I watched the whole game and only saw one questionable call but I did see the attitude he had and didnt like that. It was the first tournament he had called with us so unfortunalty we had no warning. But the other 2 umpires you had in that game are good umpires. Thanks also for stating the umpires to that point had been good. I assure you and others that we are trying very hard to get better umpires.

Let me make one thing clear. The umpire did not lose the game for us. We lost the game for ourselves. We were 11U major and they were 12U major but we always feel like we should win if we play good fundamental baseball and let's not forget we were in the championship game so we did something right. We lost the game because the other team hit the ball better, made the plays better, and pitched the ball better than us that game.

My point about the umpire was his desire to be the centerpiece of the game. He seemed to want all eyes on him and wanted all to know that would listen that he had been appointed "KING" and would toss anyone that questioned his wisdom. This is the worst trait any umpire could have.

For all to read I want to make it clear that up to the championship game the umpiring we experienced was good to really good. This guy came out of nowhere and ruined a otherwise great day. If you have gotten rid of this "bad apple" then you can count on the Bandits support. I get mad sometimes and forget to write about the good things and overall the facility was awesome, the directing was excellent and the fields were prepared between games and the rest rooms super clean. Overall I give Southern Baseball a B+ and that ain't bad in travel baseball.

Papa, we dont play in southern baseball any longer bc of the umpires, have had several bad rules mishaps with egos bad enough for the umps to not even give an explanation, just play ball!
