Anyone else think what happened last weekend was a bad deal for their team?

Webb Bridge hosted a 12u tourney. On Friday afternoon they sent an email to coaches informing them that games that were supposed to start at 6:00 would start at 5:45, all pool play games would be shortened to an hour and twenty minutes. Think some teams may have played a game on thursday night. Rain was forecast and the Tourney Director was trying to get an extra game in on Friday night, hence starting early on friday. His goal was to get pool play done earlier because he thought it would rain. So some teams played two shortened pool games, some played one and some played none. Rain came early, another game was not played after friday night.

So when coaches approached Director about their entry fee, they were told this was a fundraisor for the 14U team and that if your team played so much as one game, no refund of any kind was coming, and if your team played no games, 75 percent refund was coming.

Anyone else want to comment on why anyone should go back to a tourney at Webb Bridge ever again? First, you don't change start times for a tournament game sceduled to start at 6:00 on Friday via email at 3:45 on Friday afternoon. Second, lots of entry fees kept for games that did not get played, umps that did not get paid, fields that did not get rented. Sure they lost money on concessions, but is this the way to treat your coaches who chose to play in your tourney?

Webb Bridge Park is a city run park in Alpharetta, GA. Each tournament is run independent of any other by individual travel teams. Thus each tournament has different rules, procedures and policies.

On May 20-23rd my team is hosting the 10th Annual Battle at the Bridge. I have run this tournament with my teams for the past 5 years out of Webb Bridge Park. We have had our share of weather related issues over that time, but overall have received very positive response from the teams that have participated. Our policies are clearly stated on the registration form.

Ok, Now I have been informed by our coach that he has received a communication from the tournament director indicating that a 50 percent refund is on the way (we played one game) So my apologies to the tourney director as it appears what I was previously informed of was in error.

Sorry about the confusion, but my source of information was credible, but apparently the information he received and communicated to me was incorrect, or someone decided to alter the indicated course of action AFTER they communicated the word that there would be no refund. Either way, I am sure our team is pleased to receive the refund of entry fees and I'm sure that if they will have us, we will return to web bridge in the future.

Can't speak to the tournament but i would say that each tournament at Webb Bridge is run by a different team with a different TD so don't hold this situation against the other tournaments scheduled at Webb Bridge by their other teams. In my experience they run great tournaments and have always been great hosts.

If I recall correctly, - they had written rules posted that stated, no games - 80% refund, 1 game - 50% refund and 2 games, no refund. I would think that they would have to at least honor this policy or they will have a hard time getting teams to enter future tournaments.

ps..SORRY FOR CAPS

I also wonder if the purpose of some directors is to
1. play the tourney out or 2. make sure everyone gets enough games to avoid refund

this has nothing to do with webb bridge but what is intent of most directors? sadly my experience is #2

WHAT WERE THERE WRITTEN RULES REGARDING REFUND..I ALWAYS ASK THAT IN ADVANCE..AND FUNDRAISERS ARE NO DIFFERENT THAN ANY OTHER TOURNEY. ITS NOT YOUR JOB TO FEEL THEIR PAIN BUT IF THEY HAD IT IN WRITING THAT IS THE RULE
