If a 13 U team plays in a 14U tournament. Can a 14 U kid play on that 13U team?

I'm curious as to why you would want to do this outside of possibly not having enough players. Let's assume for a moment that the 13U team is one of the top major teams in the area and that the reason for playing up is because of one of the following reasons:

1. The competition in the local 13U tournaments would not benefit a strong 13U Major team.
2. You want to prepare the boys for the larger field size by playing up.
3. The bigger field and mound distance would provide a better challenge for players at this level.

Adding a 14U player of any skill set to the 13U team would not appear to benefit either the 13U team or the 14U player other than getting him some additional playing time while taking that same time away from another 13U players.

Depends...He needs to be added to the teams roster...this can cause a problem with A USSSA roster for example. U could not add a 14 year old to a 13u roster. So bottom line is to add a 14 year old to a 13u team the team would now have be considered a 14u team not a 13u team. So it can be tricky...If it is a non sanctioned tourney then probably not a problem at all. And in some cases depending on the organization hosting the tourney it may be OK. USSSA will be a problem.

it depends on tourney..if it is a legit roster he can not be added to the roster. IE usssa, ustba, aau etc etc If so that team is no longer a 13 team
