Well we thought we got qualified to go to Gulf Shores for World SEries and come to find out the World Series is already full, and NOT A SINGLE GEORGIA TEAM IN IT, I feel like this is wrong, this was the very first qualifier that GA has had this year and there should have been spots available for Ga teams. THis was only reason for playing in qualifer ,we feel like we was misinformed by USSSA..I am hoping that this is worked out,I feel like that some of the teams listed in the tournament probably hasnt paid either. GA still continues to get shafted by USSSA , I dont know how much more we can take..

Coach D ... not arguing about the name that MLB uses for the US Fall Classic that pits the NL Division Winner Vs. the AL Division Winner ... but, you might want to check out http://web.worldbaseballclassic.com/index.jsp

Just sayin' ... :-)

Global Sports North State Championships
6/25/2010
13 & Under Open

To bad this tournament is the same weekend as the Elite Battle in the South. To be eligble for the Global Sports World Series you must first participate in the State Tournament.

Some mighty fine 13u major teams from Georgia will not be attending the Global World Series because of this requirement.
gausssa Posted - 04/03/2010 : 08:02:38
patent: Not sure what age group you played in and where the teams were from but we had teams from TX,LA,FL,MS,GA,AL,ARK,TN scattered through out several age groups. Besides with all the different "world series" out there what would you call a "true world series" I know our Georgia teams never see teams west of Alabama. I myself thought it was pretty cool to see the quality of baseball played in states that i never get to watch. I will say, they are just as pationate about baseball in the southwest as we are in the southeast. Your right about one thing, it is a very nice place and the fields/parks are as good or better than anything i have seen. Not to mention the great job that the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach Sports Council does on the opening cerim. Gulf Shore and Global Sports World Series get's a A+ in my book.
patent pending Posted - 04/02/2010 : 13:04:28
Lasy year we went to gulf shores. There was about 4 states represented. Thats it . The area is nice and we did enjoy the trip. But its not a true World Series.
kehndog Posted - 04/01/2010 : 23:44:42
Really? It is a Global World Series? Are there teams from Latin America, South America, Asia, Europe, and India attending?
Arnie66 Posted - 04/01/2010 : 17:30:28
We were at the GSWS qualifier to watch the 13's & happen to stop and watch the 11's on Sunday. Who is this GA team that seem to dominate everyone in that age group? Every time I looked up they were hitting another bomb, didn't matter what was brought in, and thier pitching! WOW!
Coach D Posted - 04/01/2010 : 09:43:40
Looks like AL and LA are the states that got all the berths. If you check the 10Under its almost all AL and LA teams. They account for also nearly half the spots in the 11U as well.
gamer13 Posted - 03/31/2010 : 08:05:44
Thank you Bubba, we knew you would do anything you could to help out Georgia. Now HomePlate and the other 3 teams can go and represent Georgia.

Global World Series @ Gulf Shores UPDATE!!!!!

9U,10U ,11U ,AND 12U EXPANDED TO 40 TEAMS PER AGE
13U AND 14U EXPANDED TO 32 TEAMS PER AGE

USSSA National really steped up and listened on this one guys and now we have no excuses. As i said, i will always fight for what i feel is right. May not always win but i will fight.... ( i told everyone to "stay tuned")

baseballpapa Posted - 03/30/2010 : 11:47:17
Let Papa be the first one to say "Thank You" Bubba. You have so far done everything you said you would do and we cannot ask for any more than that. Thank you again for going to bat for the Georgia teams.
waldo Posted - 03/30/2010 : 11:47:07
Once again it seems some folks owe Bubba an apology!! You were way to eager to come on here and bash him. How many of you have had a problem or question that Bubba hasn't explianed or given you an answer for? It might not have been the answer you wanted but he got your problem solved. We need to give Bubba a break, he has a lot going on. And, I'll beat everyone of you will admit, Bubba will fight for you, and all the Ga. teams. USSSA ain't perfect, but he ain't the problem. WAY TO GO BUBBA!!!
mdphwp Posted - 03/30/2010 : 11:22:13
Thanks Bubba, maybe this was a lesson learned from all ...
CoachMark Posted - 03/30/2010 : 11:06:12
Looks like Bubba's hard work yesterday paid off. They expanded 11u to 40 teams and 4 GA teams are now registered. We are excited as we hear this is a well run event.

Trust me guys its not just Georgia that gets the shaft sometimes with Usssa. Florida has its issues as well. Rules down here are put in to place but only enforced for some. Teams get held down in classification when they shouldnt because someone knows someone else. Poor playing facilities, poor umpiring the list goes on and on.

Even the Global WS down in Plant City this year is going to be nothing but the same old Florida teams we face week in and week out. Usssa is a business and like any other business you have to protect certain assets. Why do you think Florida teams get most of the at-larges births to the Elite 32. Directors have to protect these assets as well. These are teams that make them a living all year long. So from a business aspect it only makes sense to protect those that pay your bills all year instead of those who pay you once a year.

The only way you will see fairness in the process is to change the qualifying rules. However I personally believe Usssa has become too big to care for the time being. We saw the same thing down here in Central Florida. For a long time AAU was king and because they knew they were king they got away with what ever they wanted to. Then Usssa started to make some waves.Coming in and doing it bigger and better than AAU. Slowly but surely some AAU teams came over to Usssa and as time went on more and more teams left AAU to Usssa. I hate to say it but I see Usssa headed down that same ugly path unless the powers that be see the light.

Nations is making a big push in the south and the rest of the country. A friend of mine in Texas said 2 years ago Usssa was king and now Nations is the primary travel ball organization. Look at North Florida. Since the old Director has left Usssa this year and he has joined forces with Nations. Nations baseball has taken a large portion of the tournament business in North Florida. Last year it was nothing but Usssa.

We all must realize that as with any business that wants to succeed we the consumer have a say so in whether they will or not. If we as consumers like the product then we buy it. If we dont then its only a matter of time before that business is out of business. I will say for the record. I like Usssa but I see major issues with it that I have not yet with other baseball organizations. This is not to say those others wont have those issues but if those others are smart they will listen to the consumers who drive their potential income and learn from the mistakes of others before them. I believe this is what has caused Nations to take off so fast.

I applaud Bubba for listening and offering to help. However he is just one voice. I doubt very seriously that the powers that be will listen to just one voice. Bubba has no control over what some State Director has chosen to do in Alabama who was awarded a Global WS tournament. He can ask but thats about it. So please dont take it out on Bubba, Your concerns if you want them heard need to be addressed with the Usssa corporate office in Florida.
baseballpapa Posted - 03/29/2010 : 21:59:49
Bubba: Papa really likes you and I really do think you are standing up for us and I want to say right off the bat that I appreciate that but as you have probably already found out there is a real problem with the way USSSA is treating the State of Georgia youth baseball teams.

I think one of the problems is that USSSA needs to get a dictionary and if they do they will realize that the word frozen really does mean frozen and that the word qualifier means that you are attempting to qualify for something and when you win the qualifier then you should be awarded the berth.

Why was all the berths gone when it comes time for Georgia to qualify. HP Chili Dogs Lawson earned the right to come and represent Georgia and Papa could not think of a better representative for us to have. You should be proud to have them instead of freezing them out. USSSA does know the meaning of frozen but only when it hurts Georgia and not when it helps them.

I think a more appropriate question for the national USSSA board should be "What has the State of Georgia done to make you hate us so much" It seems that we always get the short end of the USSSA stick.

gausssa,
Thanks for clarifing how that works. Sounds like we didn't get the full story on the front end. Sounds like its tougher to get in to the Gulf Shores Series than it is the Elite 32..lol

gausssa thanks for the help it just seems a little strange that some of the teams qualified on sat in a one day event and made it we finished playing on sunday at about 7:00 and didnt you guys did prove at the snit gate fee deal you will stand up for us so please keep fighting for us.Thanks
mysmitty Posted - 03/29/2010 : 20:11:41
Seems to me the alabama directors out smarted the georgia directors because they played the the wsq on sat. a one day event i thought scott and bubba were together in gulf shores but now it seems the alabama director had a insight to what was coming and took care of his people.I also dont understand how you can recieve a berth finishing 5th out of 6 teams seems like a little home cooking to me.Bubba you helped out a little with the gate fee at snit now stand up help out the georgia teams. the georgia teams I think help in keeping you a job and alot of revenue
gausssa Posted - 03/29/2010 : 18:31:23
Also, mdphwp !!! The only way to get on that list of teams is to pay on-line in full...

I wanted to play in this tournament this year and have been awaiting the tourney of this past weekend for some time now but knew from the way the Gulf Shores tourney was filling up from other states that we would not be able to qualify unless we went out of state. I was told by the Alabama USSSA director that they expanded the 10u field to 48 teams last year because of demand but that that would not happen this year and that the 11u field would proably fill before the end of March. Each state should have at least one state qualifier with a specific amount of guaranteed births to this particular tournament. The following disclaimer is on the Global site:

"Comment: Teams that qualify for the Global Sports Baseball World Series are not guaranteed a specific World Series location. Qualified teams must enter the Global Sports Baseball World Series online at www.usssa.com on a first come, first served basis."
baseballpapa Posted - 03/29/2010 : 12:52:37
What's up with this Bubba. Why is it that it always seems that Georgia is the one getting the shaft. It's like Florida is the wife and Georgia is the husband and we divorced and they get the gold mine and we get the shaft.

Let's get a quick answer to this one. The very word Qualifier means to me that you enter to win a berth. Will the same thing happen with the Elite 32. I have know mwphwp for several years now and have agreed with him on very little but when it looks like a pig, smells like a pig and Oinks like a pig then it is usually a pig. Oink Oink
