How come there are no teams listed in any tournaments? Is there a differrent website or are these tourneys cancelled?
USTBA08 Posted - 02/12/2010 : 16:46:03
Here is how it works.

If you qualify in a USTBA event for the GSWSOB, you are guaranteed to receive a spot in the session you choose. Basicaly, if you wanted to attend the 12U session one and it was full, you would be given priority and permitted to participate as long as entry deadlines are met.

This is the first year GS is having qualifiers. Since it is new and never done before through GS, teams can obtain at large berth's, just like every other organization allows for World Series except the high level Elite or super 24.

To make all teams qualify the first year would be difficult to accomplish and prevent many teams from participating that already made plans to attend, maybe as long as year ago.

sanction fee is a croc if you cant get money back if tourney does not make.

Paul, good luck in getting things back on track here in GA. The one tournament of yours we played in last spring was great. The boys really liked the rings.

First, there was no divorce, I have always been the inventor and owner of USTBA it's formats, operating procedures, etc. solely.

The web address issues will be settled soon and I hope everyone understands the complexity, legal issues and cost in rectifying the issues and continues to support USTBA.

baseballready,
I asked for similar clarification from USTBA via email & recieved same as above which I forwarded to GSS asking for further clarification. I sent the eamil to GSS on Wednesday and I am waiting on a reply. We are 9U & signed up for session II as well. According to USTBA site, there are three tournaments comprised of 10 qualifying "berths" to GSWS assuming that the same teams do not qualify in seperate tournaments. There are currently 9 teams registered from our area not including ECB Yanks and two others who I believe are going, but not registered. This sure makes it interesting.... Based on conversations with GS when we registered, there were no additional qualifications required. I will gladly forward GS response when I recieve it. Thanks.

USTBA08 - you may have missed this but clg003 also asked an important question.

Grand Slam Sports World Series has not required qualifying berths in the past. Your posts state that USTBA tournaments will provide berths. From the GSS website, Session 2, starting July 5 already has 17 of 24 slots filled for 9U, more than half being GA teams. Did these all require berths from USTBA or just sanction with GSS and registration fee as in prior years? Are USTBA berths now required to play at Grand Slam Sports World Series sessions?

Georgia USTBA will list All teams that make an online registration.

Once payment is made, that team is listed in BOLD. Teams constantly, with all organizations, register to play and then for whatever reason change their mind, many times without notifying the director until they are contacted about payment, which most of the time is the Monday or Tuesday before the event. Once a team is NOT confirmed, they are removed from the list.
We can only assume, if a team does an online registration, they are going to play and not pull out in the last minute... but, it happens all the time.

As with all organizations, team memberships or sanctioning are non-refundable.

You dont need berths to enter the Grand Slam World Series. Am I missing something?

I apologize I failed to answer a very important question.

The 2009 Summer World Series was cancelled due to some unethical business practices performed by the other party mentioned here in this post. Bogus teams were listed (like many other organizations do and I will not tolerate), teams were uncertain being able to roster a team due to other sports and the date of the event and it was the last ditch effort by the other party to sabotage USTBA in order to start another organization and create confusion (as it has) among teams.

In 2010, USTBA will be teaming up with Grand Slam World Series of Baseball in Panama City Beach to offer teams a vacation ending season Championship event. Teams that finish 1st and 2nd in a qualifying event in all competition divisions will receive berth's and 1st through 4th teams in the USTBA State will also qualify.

There are three different sessions at different dates so you can pick which one works best for your team.

First, thank you for all the very kind compliments. Yes, I am the one that does the award ceremonies and pre-championship game ceremonies, as well as spending hours decorating the parks to create a TRUE tournament atmosphere and normally running around like a chicken with my head cut off. And I LOVE DOING IT! It's the time, when as a tournament director, I get to have some fun with the players, coaches and spectators and truly enjoy organizing the events.

USTBA was started with a couple main goals.
1. Give more back to the game through conducting exciting, organized tournaments and offer more than anyone else dares to provide.
2. Create a unique play format where your third game has meaning and gives all teams the chance to make the Championship through our split division competition format.
3. Award players and teams very nice awards including Custom Championship Rings, Very Nice BIG team trophies and custom "Bling" medallions.
4. Put the players first... making them feel like they ARE at a tournament and not just playing games with things like our Home Run Awards and Golden Arm Awards we present to players for special recognition of individual accomplishments.
5. To change travel baseball tournaments for the better for everyone... players, coaches, parents, siblings and yes... even the umpires.

By providing these and many more services to teams that participate with USTBA, we have been told by you what you appreciate;
1. Our team always plays better in your events.
2. Our parents and players love the atmosphere you create.
3. The umpires seem to "step up their game" as far as officiating in your events.
4. Our players always feel like they have the chance to make it to a Championship Game.
5. You, USTBA-Paul Jennings, do allot for the kids and we appreciate all you and your staff do.

I'd be honest with all of you, if I was to win the BIG lottery, I would build a state of the art facility here in the metro area and in Florida and provide travel tournaments in Georgia for a $100 entry fee TOTAL - No Gate - No Other Cost At All! Our World Series would be the same... $100 and offer things never before seen in travel baseball tournaments.
However, since all of you that have conducted tournaments know, facility rental, umpires, baseballs, awards, staff and allot more is very expensive. We don't have the Luxury of a volunteer staff and free facility use like teams and parks have at many facilities.
I bet most of you didn't know it cost on average $275-$300 PER FIELD - PER DAY TO RENT FACILITIES. Umpires cost an average of $110 Per Game and our awards usually run around $900 - $1,200 Per Age Division. In our Spring Nationals last year at ECB, our expenses were over thirty K for 80 teams and we didn't receive ONE PENNY from Gate. That was almost $400 per team... COST!

So to close my long winded reply... PLAYERS COME FIRST!

I hope you all continue to support USTBA as we continue to support Travel Baseball. The situation with USTBA should be completly settled in the next coming months.

We hope to see you join us as often as possible in our quality events!

Sincerely,

Paul Jennings

PS
You can see the many benefits we offer at our events under our tournament listing in the Tournaments link here on NWGA Baseball.

Papa doesn't generally agree with the Chief but he is right on this one. USTBA is a nice place to play and they always seem to put the kids first. I don't what the court issues are but wish them well and can't wait to get to one of their tournaments.

Paul is the guy with a beard and the nicest fellow you will ever meet. He is usually the one that does announcing and trophy presentations, he puts the kids first, I believe when Paul gets everything under control USTBA will take over , They are totally for the kids and thats whats it is all about.
bturner Posted - 02/08/2010 : 10:14:07

USTBA in Georgia has one site. www.ustbageorgia.com . The other sites are a knock off of the organization by Tommy Chase, which some of you know of when he worked with USTBA. He started as USTBA-USA, a court case settled that issue with more to come.

Sorry for all the confusion.
