Yesterday the baseball world suffered a big loss, as Randy Southard lost his battle with cancer. Randy served as President of Acworth Baseball, along with many other positions over the past ten years. I was priviledged to coach rec. ball, All-Stars, and Travel ball with him for the past ten years as well. He always knew that the kids were more important than the scoreboard. Please pray for his son Logan, as he copes with his loss.

There will be a memorial service at NorthStar Church in Kennesaw, Saturday January 16th at 5p.m.

Randy, put the egos aside. In my workings with him, his primary concern was truly the kids. Extremely accomodating. Simply a good person.

Randy was a great guy and always very helpful to our team. Rome and Cedartown parents and players will all miss Randy. May God bless his Family.

Always good to my teams, and a great host when we visited to play. He was what is right about the sport. A class act all around.

Class act all the way around. My oldest played for him and with Logan for a couple of years. He will be missed.

Thank for the kind words. Randy just found out that he had cancer the week of Thanksgiving. He was a single dad, and there are a lot of needs. If anyone would like to donate or help out in any way, information can be found at www.acworthbaseball.org

I am very sorry to hear this. I have worked with Randy for a few years supplying baseballs to Acworth. In fact I last spoke with him in October when he placed an order for this year. He never mentioned being sick. This is a great loss to the baseball folks at Acworth and around Georgia. He was a tireless worker, class act and totally dedicated to the kids. He will sorely missed and his family will be in our prayers! He epitomized what youth sports is about. If there is anything we can do for his family please let me know.
