So my youngest (14) has decided to hang up the cleats after yrs of travel ball. He came to the realization a few weeks back and as much as I would love for him to continue, it is his decision.

We've been going non stop for 10 years with 3 boys and have loved watching them play. This is going to be harder on me than on my son.

He's an athlete and while baseball may not be in his future, who knows what he'll do next. Soccer, Lacrosse, Running, Football???? I'll get my occasional baseball fix but will need to find something else :-)

And I won't miss the early morning drives across the state or fighting traffic to get to practices long drives or the COSTS, there are plenty of things I will miss. Most of all the friends and families we have met along the way.

It's been a great run and I am thankful for these boards and having this community available to me.

Thanks all.... Good luck

While I know it will be an adjustment I have to commend you LittleDawg. Some parents have it in their heads "No, he can't quit baseball, I have invested too much money in this for him to quit"...and they force the kid to continue. You are listening to your son, and that is a very good thing. Good luck to him and you.

The end is always tough, no matter when it comes. And it does come for everyone at some point. I feel your pain LittleDawg, as my son finished up his playing career last May. It's been tough, but I get my baseball fix from following some family friend's kids and going to my 9yr old nephew's games here and there. Hopefully, your son has learned some good lessons from his baseball days and will carry the memories forever. Best of luck to him in whatever he decides to do next.
