National Umpires Association to assign Triple Crown Sports
U.S. Club Nationals

Triple Crown Sports is pleased to announce an agreement with the National Umpires Association, which will assign the umpires for the 2017 US Club Nationals tournament in Atlanta, GA, July 18-23.

The NUA is one of the largest amateur umpire groups in the country, training and assembling crews from more than 20 states and Canada. This is a US Club Nationals event, where TCS has brought together several top-flight clubs from across the nation, who will compete in age groups from 9u-14u.

Jim Stros is the director of the NUA; he was a high-achieving relief pitcher at Michigan State (1987-90) and pitched professionally for three years before starting his career as an umpire. In his more than 20 years on the field, Stros has worked national championship games at multiple levels and is a trusted associate for dozens of high school and college coaches and scouts.

He worked five full seasons as an NCAA umpire before becoming director of the NUA.

“Jim’s dedicated work through the National Umpires Association has brought dozens of people through the process, deepening the pool of umpires who do the job with clarity, consistency and values that match Triple Crown Sports,” said Joe Santilli, US Club Nationals event director. “We have brought the best youth programs to Atlanta for this event, and we are thrilled to have the NUA assign the crews for the occasion.”
