I have often wondered what is worse. Teams who drop out of events when they see bad weather approaching or tournaments who take your money knowing darn well they will get rained out but want to get the 2 games in to make sure they keep the money. So few events now days ever attempt to fix fields like they used to and that may be due to the people they rent them from not allowing them.

My kid has had 2 events this year where they only got 2 games and those are 2 tournaments our budget won't allow us to make back.

just something to ponder

Sunday is a wash. Directors very seldom have crews to work and I hate to say it BUT if there is a team gate vs pay at gate no way they try to fix them

Exactly! I understand the thinking behind calling it early on Sunday when it doesn't look promising in order to save teams a wasted trip to the park. BUT, I know a lot of teams would happily make that potentially wasted trip to the park on the off chance that the rain lets up and the fields can be ready to go -- even if just for shortened games. Unfortunately, as you point out, there's very little incentive for the TD to try and make that happen.

Now, if any of you talking about and/or predicting rainouts have jinxed us for this weekend, you're banned from posting here ever again!

It depends on the team and the budget.

If a tourney is lets say $500 to enter, and you have 14 kids on the team, that is $35.72 per kid for the tourney, or $17.86 per game, plus a gate fee. Is your team full of parents and players that would pay $20 per game to let/watch their kid play baseball?

Or is your team on a shoestring budget and you only have like 6 tourneys scheduled because of that, and giving up one of your $500 entry fees for a 2 game tourney is not going to go over well.

Someone will be along shortly to recommend playing at PG so its not a problem......Weather is just a part of any and all outdoor recreation. Something to ponder for sure............there are multiple tourneys so other than your big trip, I see no problem backing out when the weather looks bad. The kicker to that is how unpredictable the weather is. On Monday I saw sunny skies and 60 degrees, but by the day before the event, it changed to 80% chance of rain.......and rain it did. Its a gamble for sure.
