Please understand that i will never bash another organ. nor will i responed in a negitive way when someone bash's me or USSSA. I have more class than that and you can ask the people who know me. I will not check this site every day but i do check emails and phone messages every day.

Sorry to interrupt this post.

Over the summer at the Global WS and at the past 4 USSSA conventions I have spent some time with Matt, Bubba and Casteel. We have some quality events planned in April for Lagrange, Columbus and Auburn (Alabama) that will be well ran and we will all be at these events in person. I am real sure some of the top notch Alabama teams will be there to play. So please check your schedule open in April and please keep checking back on Bubba and Casteel websites or www.usssa.com for a list of all the teams playing.

I deal with a few North GA teams during the season coming to Auburn and my phone is always on for anyone to call me. We will have a great 2010 spring season.

Bubba sorry for the hijack of your post. I just wanted to show our support.

Thanks

Matt is waiting for the 2010 rule book to be complete and then will update everything on the site. Also, we had our State USSSA meeting this past Sunday and talked about inforcing rules and protest. I let it be known i want "everybody" doing things the same way and the right way 'everytime'. If not, i want to know it. Like i have said in prior post. Are we doing things perfect at USSSA? NO ,but we are going to bust our tails trying to be perfect. I promise every coach in Georgia that.

There is a lot of misinformation contained w/in this string. Please read the roster section 3.0 pages 4,5,6 of USSSA's rules, write down questions, then bring them to the USSSA rules meeting in Jan/Feb.

Bubba: the rules shown on Georgia's USSSA web site are copyrighted 2008. The National USSSA web site's rules are copyrighted 2009. We need to update our Georgia web site to the '09 version below:

http://www.usssabaseball.org/documents/Baseball.Bylaws.Current.pdf

Generally speaking, the USSSA rules are much more restrictive than this string depicts, with the exception of Fall (which begins after the State and/or World Series the team you were frozen to played in, or was to play in, ends).

Bubba, Tourney Directors not knowing the rules isn't the issue as much as their unwillingness to enforce them. It's an ugly scene when a team gets DQ'd. Players in tears, parents, coaches, and umps yelling at each other. It's human nature to avoid this drama. An ounce of prevention could go a long ways.

Are you kidding? The fields are top notch and the tournament cost is not higher then others and is actually less then Triple Crown.

I see alot about players and teams making moves throughout the season to win tournaments, but how many teams out there choose their roster and stay with them all season long? How about the players? How many of them choose a team, and stick with it? Winning is an important lesson to learn in life, but so is committment. What kind of backlash do teams get, when they put a kid on the bench that's been with them all year long to bring in a "stud", just so they can bring home that championship? I'm all about winning, but at what expense? We all want our kids to make it to college and/or the Pro's, but at what cost? We're a new 10u team that shows a lot of promise and we'll do it with our 11.

On another note, we played a tournament in Stockbridge that was run by Bubba and he did a great job! I had a couple questions in regards to Class Classifications and Bubba was more than happy to listen to my questions/concerns. We're looking forward to a great season.

After giving the protest appeal some thought and talking it over with Matt T. We will start taking appeals on protest in certain tournaments championship games/tournaments. Give me a little more time to work out the details and how the process will work. I want to see if we can get it in out Georgia Supplemental Rules. At any rate, i like the idea and will make it happen.....I never want to here that a team got cheated because someone didn't fully know a rule that was making a decision.

All,

USSSA has some big tournys scheduled for East Cobb in 2010. Let's see if we can attract some of the hot teams from south Atlanta USSSA to come to the north side for a big USSSA
shindig. Seems we are always traveling south for them, but the only teams to come here are the Chili dogs which we love to see and respect, Surely there are more down there than that, but don't ever want to leave the comfort of their back yard. The the Cobb, Forsyth, Gwinnett, Dalton, Monroe, Conyers teams consistently travel down there, an usually get the raw end of the game time and bracketts. Something I know we all have felt frustrated by. Since Bubba is from that area maybe he can help in convincing some team to head up here and battle it out.

Then we will kick of the new park BMOSER is touting with the biggest Tourny of the year for it's grand opening with USSSA, TC, USTBA or whoever wants it the most, will be rewarded

Your right and i remember the situation. The roster rules and questions is one of the most talked about topic's on this site. I hope to clear up most of this when the 2010 rule book is made public. It will better explain what makes a kid legal and not legal. When a roster is frozen and not frozen. These will be a hot topic at the coach's meeting's coming up in Jan/Feb.
whits23 Posted - 11/23/2009 : 13:17:29
you are correct if he was frozen but i still think you can drop and go elsewhere but you can not go back..anyway the frozen part changes everything..you didnt include that in your first post..congrats on being frozen as that means you won something

I know this first hand because I was the head coach of a major team that had finished its season and I was attempting to get one of my players an opportunity to play somewhere else. I had a telephone conversation with Bubba who told me this personally. My player was protested before I spoke to Bubba and wasn't allowed to play with the team that had picked him up. This was in a state tournament in Monroe. Just because you did not get caught doesn't mean it was legal.
bmoser,
back me up on this one.

No Back up from bmoser is necessay.

I dind't get caught because what I did was NOT illegal.

You got caught because what you were trying to do WAS illegal.

I clearly indicated that we have scrambled many teams (AFTER the Spring/Summer year ended )with players of mixed badging...AA/AAA/Major. to play tournaments in the FALL. After regular season ends.

Generaly speaking the Fall rosters don't mean much. Even if you win tournaments. They are NOT frozen and are NOT realitive to any Spring Rosters.

I have many e-mails from Matt T. on this issue. ( Fall Rosters )

Their may be some exceptions...Super NIT???

whits23 Posted - 11/22/2009 : 12:36:27
warrior..that is not a usssa rule..read all the post over the last 2 years regarding this. However some local tournaments took it in their own hands to not allow players on major rosters to play on teams in local tourneys. I know in the mazzoni they did not allow that as they didnt want teams loading up for that tourney. But once again, unless frozen a major player can play anywhere he wants.

ONCE and for all.
Rule 3.11 A player may legally appear on multiple Official Online Rosters in the same age division regardless of
classification(s) until such time one of the rosters the player appears on in the age division becomes frozen.

Bubba, Thanks for this open dialogue. An issue we had last year being on a major team, when the team finished its season and players were then trying to find other avenues to play more baseball the so called major players are locked out of playing with AA and AAA teams. Just because a player is on a major roster does not make them a major player. This USSSA rule is more geared towards teams win and loss record than it is for a player’s ability to just play baseball. I agree that a AA or AAA team should not be able to take 3 or 4 major type players and bolster their team for a state or national tournament something, however, should be done to allow these other players who will not find a spot on a major team at this time during the season. They should not simply be told they can't play. If a coach willingly releases a player that player should be allowed to find a spot on another team.

I'm not sure when "Fall Ball" Technically starts. I guess after the W/S. But the rosters and player classification don't come onto play. We have played on major teams during the spring/summer and then play with whoever we choose dure the fall. Often on several different teams with players from mixed teams and mixed classifications. There are not many "Major" tournaments in the fall. Most of the studs are playing Football.

I like the idea of having a appeal process on protest in larger tournaments or maybe even all of post season play. Let me work on that. The bottom line to is get the rulling right!!!! I don't care who it pisses off but just get it right.

Just a little back ground history on me and with with USSSA. I couched for the last 20 years and a Major team (Georgia Braves) for years for my oldest son (16 now). I have ran tournaments for USSSA for the last five years and was named the Director of Tournament Operations last year. (2008 for the 2009 season) I hold the number 2 position in the State of Georgia.
I feel that my experince in coaching and being on the travel ball scene gives me the best prospective of what you coach's go through and the problems that you experince while playing with any organ. I was told of this web-site towards the end of the 2009 season and vowed that i would check it out in the fall. SO HERE I AM. I have been taking all the feed back in for the last couple of weeks and have plans to put somethings in motion to help correct some of our problems. Will i make everybody happy and make it a perfect world? No but every team in this State has my promise that i will always be here and listen. I know....ACTION'S SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS!!!!

Do i think USSSA has the best organ. going? YES. Do i think that Georgia USSSA does everything perfect? NO. Will we ever be perfect? NO. Are we going to bust our tails trying to make it perfect? You bet. We are going to start by having a State wide coach's meeting to go over new rules, old rules and rules some people just don't get. I will announce place and time in the next couple of weeks. (will be in jan)

I want to meet as many of you guys face to face as i can.

Talk to you guys later...Off to my little one's Super Bowl. They are going after a 3 peat.

I hope Bubba takes the very much needed opportunity to make his presence known and shake hands at the Super NIT at Atlanta this year. Something about a State TD being at the major tournaments in their state says alot to the integrity of their business. Plus this would be a good way to put a face with the name and see the man that is trying to put USSSA back on the map in the State of Georgia.
baseballpapa Posted - 11/20/2009 : 08:27:36
Has Bubba always been our director and just didn't know about this site and the problems youth baseball has with USSSA or is he a new director that is just trying to clean up the mess. Either way I think that he appears willing to listen and do what he can and I think this is enough and that we all should throw all of all support behind him and make USSSA a really good place to play because we all know that they have a good system in place when they begin to use it the right way.
bmoser Posted - 11/20/2009 : 08:13:25
The damage is done. Let's talk solutions. Could the State or Regional Director be the final authority for a protested call at high level games? (State c-ship finals, NIT c-ship finals, SNIT C-ship game, any Elite 32 elim game, ect.). If a Tourney Director makes a mistake, there could be a quick appeal call made to the State Director by the Coach or Ump. Teams need protection against Tourney Directors who don't understand the rules, or who choose not to enforce them, for whatever reason. Some examples of infractions that could be appealed if the Tourney Director wont enforce:

AAA team in a AA Sub-State C-ship game
Teams playing at State that didnt qualify at Sub-States
Teams playing at World Series that didn't qualify in their home State
Players on a State C-Ship roster w/ no previous USSSA history
Major players being used in a AA Sub State
Players names not matching birth certificates,so multiple histories
