Posted - 09/15/2009 : 17:26:04 I made a post in March, before the 2009 spring season asking parents about baseball burnout. Some people were giving their experiences with it and I wanted to see if any of your ideas or anything has changed. Any updates, advice. A few people that commented were:

Posted - 09/16/2009 : 12:43:13 Rocky, I don't get burned out, but sometimes need a break in the pace. Especially the pace of June/July. There is no rest for the weary, though. Having multiple children, with multiple sports will do that to you. |

Posted - 09/16/2009 : 10:41:47 I can't imagine being burned out as a parent with sports, unless my son was struggling to compete or not getting better, or not getting a fair shake. If my kids quit sports today I would volunteer next season to coach a team whether he played or not. |

Posted - 09/16/2009 : 08:58:15 I saw an article, recently, about the burnout coming more on the parents part than the athlete. We, as adults, have jobs, homes, bills and other kids to deal with while the players only focus on school and playing. I think what refreshes them a little in the fall is the new players/team changes that happen. That and a lighter schedule. I do see players that are physically "tired" from the baseball season. Particularly pitchers having tired arms. Not sore or hurt, just tired. I guess that is what Oct-Dec is for. Re-engergizing. |

Posted - 09/15/2009 : 18:39:12 Still kickin' it with the four sport thing. Middle school football and Fall baseball right now. Basketball on deck. Track when we can. Wound up on a new baseball team my son's excited about. Trying to get to know everybody. Yada yada.
No burnout worries as of yet. |
