Just ran across an article in Baseball America that states the NFHS passed a new rule yesterday that requires ALL states to develop it's own pitch count restriction. So, like them or not, here they come. The article didn't say when they had to be in place, but in reading other articles, it appears that these will be in place next spring. Here's the Baseball America article:

I wonder if the GHSA will actually get input from baseball people unlike how they did when they snuck in their decision to move the state championships to "neutral" sites? Don't even get me started on how pathetic that is. Given their long history of head scratching decisions, I'm interested to see what they come up with. The logical thing to do is simply impliment the Pitch Smart guidelines (probably their best option from a legal standpoint too), but I'll be shocked if they do that. "Logical" & GHSA aren't two words that I've found to go in the same sentence very often.

It's definitely a step in the right direction! Hopefully this will trickle down to the youth level (USSSA, TC, etc...) where it sorely needed (pun intended) as I just watched yet another 10yo throw 110+ pitches in one game!
