I'm about to launch a team site and am familiar with eteamz & League Lineup, but I wanted to put it out to the broader audience to see who likes what.

Personally, I prefer League Lineup over eteamz, even though it's a bit maze-like to navigate, it provides for alot of flexibility and has most of what is needed to communicate pertinent info for a team.

I see that some ECB teams like the Home Teams Online, but I've never used them and would love to hear what everyone likes/dislikes about their sites.

I want to steer away from acquiring my own domain and building a site from scratch due to time constraints.

Looking forward to your input.

Here's my 2cents - I've been an IT guy for about 16 years....I looked at all the options and without a doubt HTO is the best when it comes to ease of use, setup and administration, customization and selective security. We had levels of security, parents & Players, sponsors and coaches... the different passwords gave you access to different parts of the site. In other words if you do not want to share stats and such you can set it to coaches only.

Look at some of their samples... they also have other functions like fundraising, calling post, email blast etc.... very well thought out.

I've worked with League, Eteamz, and HTO. Of the 3, i think HTO is cleaner and gives you a better, less cluttered look. I would still go to GoDaddy and get a url of your teams name and ofrward it to your website page...makes it easier to search. Also don't forget to register the site with the search engines for ease of locating it.

I've been using eteamz for several years and don't like some of their recent changes. I just tried League Lineup and I think I like it better now and it seems like a better deal if you pay for the advanced features because it is cheaper and you get more disk space. The one thing I like about eteamz though was that I could store all the past rosters and seasons and I'm not sure about that on league lineup.

The things that eteamz changed that I don't like is that they went to new templates that you can customize, but they are narrower because you can't have menu's in the border on each side. Therefore you have reduced screen space for your site. Also some of the old customizable features are now seem to only be available with the plus package. The old templates are no longer available so if you have an existing site with an old template don't try changing to the new ones or you can't get it back. Eteamz will give up the plus features for free for two weeks on a new site. So if you customize like you want within that period you maybe okay, but I think if I remember correctly it may default to standard template.

I looked at a lot of the free sports website URLs and none of the others looked as good to me, but that was without building a site.

There was one other that looked fairly interesting to me based off their top site examples and that was http://www.teamopolis.com/

I thought these two examples looked good:

Home Teams Online is very user friendly, and if you want to customize your site, they are very good about helping you do so.
