Posted - 04/14/2016 : 11:14:27 I'm sure I am not the first to run across this so here goes.
In trying to place our park's order for all-stars, we have a young man whose head won't fit in any of the conventional helmets. The 8 was too small.
I know a few friends you order hats from big head hats but there is no "big head helmet" site out there.
Anyone have any direction I can go to get this kid a green helmet that fits? |

Have you called Better Baseball and asked them? They special order stuff all the time.
We actually order all of our All-star stuff through Chris at Better Baseball (rep to Chris - he's GREAT to work with). He said he didn't have anything (including adult helmets) that would fit.
What about going directly to the manufacturer's sales rep? Better Baseball has to have the contact info. They might have a special order dept or a way to get a special order helmet that might be able to fit.
I wear a size 15 shoe and back in 1994 that was a tough size to come by. We worked direct with our shoe sponsor and the company to get a couple of pairs sent my way. |

So I'm understanding this right... When you say "8", do you mean like the fitted hat size "8"? Lordy, what a noggin, and bless his mother's heart if that's the case....

Posted - 04/15/2016 : 09:05:13 an 8? Holy crap that's a big head. My head is large and I'm still between a 7 5/8 and 7 3/4. |

But anyway, we had to order "Senior" helmets, rather than "Youth" in the Rawlings ones, but even the "Senior" only goes up to Size 7 3/4, but it's huge. Heck, I have a spare one, never used, if you wanted to meet up and try it for the kid. Just an offer.
Yes sir - I mean an 8" fitted hat. The largest Mizuno helmet sat on top his head like a yamaka.
And thanks Turntwo. I may do that if I can't come up with anything this weekend. Much appreciated!

If ya'll wouldn't win so many games, maybe our heads wouldn't be so big
JK.......Same here brother. One model my kid needs to wear a hat underneath(Easton last year?) but not the other ones....have you tried an adult helmet and have him wear a hat with it?
LOL Well, I can tell you I ain't looking forward to seeing you guys at 11.
I know the kid personally so getting a skittle, let alone a hat, underneath the helmet isn't an option. |

Posted - 04/14/2016 : 13:35:33 Good luck. I have been dealing with that with my son for the past ten years. Size 8 is not the same from all brands. We have had good luck with Rawlings over the years. One thing I did when my son was younger, was to remove some of the padding from inside the helmet. Now, I can't recccomend that, because I don't want anyone to sue me. But at 10 and under, the kids don't throw that hard.
As an FYI, my son's varsity team does not have a helmet that fits him. He uses his personal one from travel even though the colors don't match. |
